it wasnt roman, dude came out with a big play at the end to tip that pass. too bad we couldnt score to win it tho. i was getting the chills, i thought alex was gonna get us redemption for that vikings loss

Hudson made that tip. Roman still sucks.

One tip pass doesn't erase play after play of ineptitude

and if my aunt had nuts she'd be my uncle. we're not saying he hasnt been bad for the last few years. just that he didnt do anything wrong in this game

Really? take a second look Tight end running free all over the field , it might not be wrong it's just not very good

where were the LB's covering the TE? im sure he had responsibilities too but i think they had more emphasis on Andre Johnson than owen daniels. no one had a perfect game but you cant point to a specific play and say that it was romans fault today

Raye and Rachal both need to be gone, quickly.

Okay I just pointed this out on the recent ESPN article (comment section same SN as here) but I'll point it out again for the 3rd time(I think) here.

Raye should not go anywhere. You can't do much with a weak armed duck throwing QB. Raye didn't pick Hill, Sing did. Hell, as as been stated time and again by Sing; Hill was named the Starter for basically what he did LAST season. Raye only had team film on him to go off in that assessment.

Notice that when Smith got in the Offense was working fairly well. Receivers that couldn't catch a cold could now catch Flies ala Karate Kid. And 3 TD catches by my man Duke?

Seriously why fire the one guy that made that happen?

People should temper their expectations a bit and lets see how this plays out. For both Raye AND Smith.

46 YARDS Says I'm right.

In the first half they were on the field too long because of our pathetic offense. Anyone who has played football knows playing defense is more physically taxing than offense. I also think they were getting discouraged as the offense was not helping them out. The defense even played better in the second half, they got physical and emotional help from the offense. I don't think I have been as excited as I am right now about this team in years. I hope this is the "new" Alex, and Crabtree looks like a great addition, he definitely has top notch NFL hands.

They got exhausted from all the 3 and outs in the last few games. In the 2nd half they were pretty good after a little rest, and held the texans to 3 points. They can force punts sometimes vs explosive offenses, but they're not as good as the steelers now or the ravens from 8 years ago or whatever. They played their asses off the first 3 games and now the 3 and outs are taking a toll on them.

But in Madden, the cartoons don't really slow down that much if they are in the game too long.

I DONT KNOW ABOUT U GUYS BUT THIS IS VERY REFRESHING

More important that that even, is that the o-line gave him time to throw on most plays.

I noticed that when Smith did feel the pressure, he has the great sense to shift and step and still keep his eyes downfield and make a throw.

When he shrugged off the potential sack and ran for the first down, right then i realized how much more athletic this guy is than Shaun Hill.

Everything was clicking for Alex Smith today -- we were playing as if it was already over in the first half. You could see the D's frustration as they were playing. He played beautifully, it was actually fun to watch the niners. In the first half my household hi-fived and cheered for a f**king first down. Pathetic. And by the end of the game, which I thought was going to be a blowout, we were on our feet in anxiety.

What a great change in pace and the most important thing? our offensive opened up COMPLETELY. 5-wide set no RB -- it goes to show Raye couldn't open up his playbook when Hill was on the field. Go Niners! I'm looking forward to watching A. Smith air it out against a somewhat weaker colts pass D.

i highly dobt we will win against payton manning in a passing battle lol... but lets hope our defense helps us out
Ya know I am wondering if it's going to be the same thing we've been seeing over the past few years... The defense will come out and play great, and the offense will tank.. The offense will come out and play great, and the defense will tank, mixed in with some good to very bad special teams play.. The team seems to never be able to play a good game all around on a constant basis.. And when they do, they can never do it for 4 quarters.. Haven't seen that yet...

Alex looked good, Crabtree looked good and Singletary made some moves to help revitalize us, but we still lost and the win-loss column is what matters...

I think Alex deserves to a chance to start next week, and if Singletary starts Hill I won't be able to respect that... That doesn't mean I am drinking the kool-aide with Alex Smith, I'm not, but he looked better then Hill..

I'm not drinking any bodies kool-aid on the Niners... The coaching staff on the offensive side of the ball is a joke, Singletary aside from the fire and brimstone hasn't impressed me at all, our O-Line is a joke, we have the best defense in the league on 1st and 2nd down and the worst in the league on 3rd and in situations where we desperately need a stop...

Until we can win and do it consistently and look good doing it.. This team is not very good, aside from Gore, Willis, Davis, Staley (maybe) J. Smith and (possibly) Crabtree....

The difference in the game was in the first half we couldn't get the ball moving because Hill and so the defense was on the FIELD ALOT and so 21-0. The second half Smith comes out scores touchdowns driving the ball down the field GETTING THE DEFENSE REST. Hence the 3 points given up in the second half. A good offense keeps a good defense fresh.

True; also the other team can't score as much when their offense isn't on the field 3/4 of the time>:)
the defese still needs 3 more pieces, a FS, OLB (pass rushing specialist), and a DT(pass rushing one also).

On offense we definitely need a RT, RG/LG, first and then a QB.

Alex shook at least 2 sacks. He is a big strong kid.
