Still dont understand WTF Spurlock's role is on this freakin' team. We let go of a young, quick and talented RB who could have been doing this exact thing for us.

Oh...he cant block, but he can run and catch!!!!

Robinson returing kicks? Are you effin' kidding me?

Im with you....I JUST DONT GET IT AT ALL?!

Agreed. Should have cut a WR.

I thought robinson did well at returning Kick offs

19.8 yards a return is terrible.

And today he had an 11 Yard return from the goal line.

11 Yards, Robinson? Seriously?

lol and gotta love Brandon Jones' fair catch inside the 10 yard line as well....All good teams have a good punt/kick returner and the 9ers don't have one.

What's really funny is that anyone would actually suggest that Nate Clements should return kicks. Yes.. lets have our starting corner risk injury and return kicks when he doesnt have the speed to take anything the distance anyway.

Coffee, Battle, whatever... I think the Niners have much more pressing worries like stopping Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub.

Maybe you don't understand the significance of field position in a football game. And I don't really want to hear about protecting a football player by not playing him in certain situations. Clements is a big man and he could handle the hits. He plays a physical style of football and he has proven to be a tough player. Plus he is the most dangerous return man on this team.

LOL OK Mr. Football expert. Ya.. its rocket science to understand the importance of field position.

Perhaps YOU do not understand that Clements has returned 1 - YES 1 - kickoff in the last 7 years. That went for a whopping 14 yards. The only year he really returned kicks was his rookie year and he averaged 20 yards. I just wonder how you call him the most dangerous kick off return man with that record. If he had Deion Sanders skills sure I would use him. However, he doesnt. WIth that in mind it would be foolish to risk him to injury.

I dont know for sure if Clements got hurt on punt returns today but this just reinforces what I said a couple of weeks ago in this thread. It was a stupid idea to ever suggest using Nate for returns. Hey Boomer... still like Nate as a returner?

Nate was the best return man we've had this year. He fielded the ball cleanly and put up good yardage on his returns. Yes, I would put him back there again. I believe he was hurt on a defensive play. And no, I wouldn't put Gore in to return kicks, but not because he's too valuable, but because I don't think he'd be very good at it.

Football is a violent game, but that doesn't mean that your best players shouldn't be on the field because you're afraid they will get hurt.

I'm gonna have to agree with Ninerjohn here.

Football is a violent game and yes, but our best players shouldn't be on the field unnecessarily. Clements returning punts = unnecessary.

They are saying it was on a punt return...you don't put your #1 $80million dollar CB out as a kick returner. Dumb Dumb Dumb...and its going to cost us...imagine all he had to do is keep rossum or bring in another specialist and we wouldn't be in this hole...dumb.

Exactly. It was a stupid, moronic move to put your highest paid player as a punt returner when he isnt a game breaker in the role. Clements returned 31 yards on 4 punts - and got hurt and gone for the year.

If Nate Clements had Ted Ginn Jr ability to return kicks the reward would be worth the risk. The fact is... he doesnt. He was paid a LOT of money to be a shut down corner back on this team and not to be a mediocre punt returner. Oh.. thanks for the heads up Boomer that football is a violent game. I think thats our point.

yep
Hill is probably the shiftyest receiver we have and seems like he would make a good returner. Oh well.

There was never any reason for it. He didn't play badly. In fact he played well. singFRAUD now has one of our best players hurt on D. For no reason I might add. All could have been avoided if we kept a KR / PR which we had (and we had a good one). But we wanted to save roster spots for TASER guys and BENCHWARMERS.

That and playing a Guard over and over and over who has proven he can't pass block. Somebody please tell me why Bruce is out there? We bury Jason Hill on the bench for what reason? So this guy can play. He is slow and has too many drops. He's hit the end now.
