So this is probably a good move because some guys are just content on being average back up players and thats what Morgan is.
Morgan is a 2nd year 6th round draft pick, with only a few TDs in the NFL. He is not a superstar. Copping an attitude isn't going to help his career. Being a team player will go a lot further when someone like Mike Singletary is your boss.

I just hope the coaching staff doesn't get overzealous...the last thing we want is an injury.
No matter how talented you are (unless you are playing against the Rams), it's tough to start a regular season game (& on the road) and make something happen. Like Crabtree said "I'll run routes for no reason, if that's what they want me to do". Well, first game, yes.

singletary needs to forget about showing veteran respect or whatever towards bruce. but a lineup of morgan and crabtree gives us the best shot on making plays on offense. let bruce come in against the 3rd cb cuz he barely has been getting open against starting cbs. this is mike nolanesque playing a worse player than the better guy
i agree. Morgan, Crabs, then put Bruce in teh slot.
Terrible. Bruce should be on the bench. The slot receiver should be quick and shifty, maybe even have straight line speed. At this point, Bruce is a posssesion receiver at best with not one of those attributes. Jones should be in the slot alternating with Hill.
What am I saying? What difference does it make. A slot would infer we are playing 3 WR sets, so at most we're talking, what 2-4 snaps a game?
I didn't wanna get roasted for saying "bench Bruce". I was hoping he wouldn't come back this season for the very reason of our young WR's getting much needed reps.

I'm hopeful that Crabtree's presence will ignite our offense, but frankly I think our problems in the passing game start with the OC. I can't see replacing Morgan with Crabs changing much, honestly.

I don't know, just some possibilities that may happen. Gives us something to look forward to.
Why name someone a starter though if he's only going to play 10-15 snaps? Ruffles feathers for no reason.
One thing I do like is Singletary basically saying that how much Crabtree plays depends on how he performs. If Hill could get come chemistry going with Crabtree, he could put up some big numbers and remain in the game. That would be a nice homecoming.
I wonder if this has to do with his performance guarantees for this season. I also think that this order did not come from Singletary or Sullivan, but McCloughan himself due to the current performance of the WRs thus far.

You have to remember that he hasn't been paid yet. He was a 6th round pick. He needs to do everything right to earn a new contract. If he handled it any other way, he could end up losing money.

I don't mind crabtree starting but in place of morgan! WTF! It should be morgan and crabtree. Bruce has looked bad lately dropping many catchable passes. Wow this is crazy. Morgan doing kickoffs? He's not that fast!

Yeah, Spurlock should be doing kickoffs, but anyone is better than having Delanie Walker out there. He just runs into the nearest pile and drags it for about 4 yards, then falls.

I like Hill. I think he's our shiftiest WR and could win a lot of one-on-ones against the other teams' 3rd defensive back. He should be in there.
Crabtree
Morgan
Hill
Jones/Bruce
I even want to see Spurlock get some playing time because he's shifty and quick as well. These are the types of WRs that get open. We couldn't stop Roddy White, but we did contain Larry Fitzgerald.
The odd-man out has to be Arnaz Battle. I don't think it's worth it to use up a roster spot just for him to be returning punts, when we have guys that are more capable than him sitting around doing nothing.
We need more speed on offense.

Why not go ahead and make it a 100? I would be REALLY excited if he had these type of numbers out of the gate. I wonder how much of the playbook he has learned?

I'm sure Crabs is tearing it up already. Its really not that big a shocker, the guy was arguably the best WR in college history, to be considered the best ever by some, at the very least means the guy can ball. I like Morgan and think he'll be starting in the future with Crabs, and i also like Hill in the slot, its hard to remember all the games like some of you do but i do remember him doing good when given the chance. But Crabtree has the kind of talent that he can walk onto 90% of the teams in the NFL and atleast start out being the number 2 guy, seeing that we dont have a true number one its an easy steal for him to come in and play right away. Ive been waiting for him and am glad he's finally here, a year ago i would have never imagined he'd be on our team, and its awsome....go get em crabs
