What IF Martz was Still our OC ?

Right now, it doesn't matter as much who our OC is, or even who our QB is with this Offensive Line. The Offensive Line is horrible, the only thing Hill can do is get rid of the ball quickly. Smith would probably be hurt again with this line.

There's no time to let a play develop for a pass, and there are no holes for the running backs.

A better question would be what is McKittrick was alive and still our O line coach. These guys are either underperforming based on their draft position, or Scotty made some bad picks. We have 2nd rounders for guards that let defensive lines into our backfield with little resistance.

A better O Coordinator could run some misdirection to keep the D off balance, but our prime problem is the line and we will only get as far as they can take us.

So what IF Martz was still our OC ? Would we be a better team right now ? I think so. Our defense has been playing great. And Martz, despite making some blunder calls last year, still knew how to move the chains and use Hill effectively. I think we would have been a MUCH better offense with his playbook, not to mention the team would have acclimated to his calls after year 2, and probably would be 4-1 going into the bye.

Your thoughts ?

he woulda quit

This.
We would have more yards, 1st downs, time of possesion, TDs, & interceptions & sacks.
I knew we should have kept Martz as OC, I was pissed after he was fired. I hate this damn run 60% of the time bulls**t. Build a real offense, this ain't the stone age.

We have ran like 45% of the time or even lower. lol what are you talkin about dude. It's just that our QB can't get first downs at all, so it looks like we never pass.

No argument from me, sounds logical.

Who the f**k cares about how he did last year if he's not performing as well this year?

That number is greatly skewed by the fact that we've HAD to pass late in games to either win or come close. It looks balanced on paper, but I'd like to see the numbers pre-4th quarter. If you run all game, then do nothing but pass when you have to, that isn't balance. Walsh proved over 20 years ago that you pass to set up the run, doing vie versa puts you in a position late in games to have the play calling dictacted to you by being down and having to pass.

45% because we can't run the ball

Method. U know I totally respect you, but your OL gets converts 3-rd downs - whether that's run (blocking) on passing (protection). In both situations, opposing D is either blitzing or stuffing the LOS. In either case, trench play is critical - 3rd and short or 3rd and long.

Even if we had Matt Ryan at QB, he would be sacked because both OGs are giving quick pressure up the middle nullifying decent play by the OTs. Heitmann can only help one guy. Rachal has been the focus because he's been left alone to block his guy where Heitmann has helped on Baas most of the time. However, both are poor (or not healthy) in my opinion.

Its bad play calling and play design.
We'd still have the same OL, right? Not sure it would be much different, but I'd love to have Martz. I liked him last year, too.
