Now that Rossum is gone, we need to do something about our return game, I mean seriously who has a TE returning kicks??? when we have michael spurlock on the sidelines, I remember when he was the first one to return one for the Bucs a few years ago. We need to address this better than Delanie and Battle in my opinion.
Any thoughts?

I actually like Walker as a kick returner, and i'm fine with battle. I think the return game is the least of our problems

I'd much prefer Spurlock and I'm confused as to why he's not being given a shot. Battle has muffed punts not only this season, but in seasons prior. I'm not confident with him back there.
Spurlock has actually had success running kicks back when he was with Tampa. It seems completely illogical to me to risk hurting one of your only two TE's by having him return kicks, while Spurlock sits as a 5th WR at best in the line-up and would have no significant negative impact if he were to get hurt.
Players we have who can return kicks/have done it before who I wouldn't mind seeing as KR/PR:
WR Michael Spurlock
DB Reggie Smith (PR only)
CB Nate Clements (PR only)
DB Marcus Hudson (PR only)
And that's a small list. Spurlock is the only real, good option. Put him on the field -- there are so many reasons to do so.

I really don't like the idea of Walker returning anything. I think Spurlock will soon get his chance, but I think he's still learning as well. When he's ready, I say Forester put him in there

No! While Clements is a good returner he is too valuable to risk losing due to injury on special teams. Would you really want him exposed to unnecessary hits especially if he gets hurt and is not available when we play say the Cardinals?

We should try and sign Usaine Bolt. He's fast.

What. So he can get torched for 300 yards by Fitz and burned by slow white guys?
In all seriousness, our return game needs serious help. Hell, the last long-term, reliable returner we had was probably Dexter Carter and he liked to fumble a lot. This decade we've had very poor production from our returners--Denny Sutherland, anyone--until we got Rossum, who was big last year. He admittedly lost a step and was holding a roster spot, so his release is no biggie. Still, you'd think we'd put Spurlock in there as he's a return specialist who has had success at the NFL level. Why we continue to have slow M-Rob and Walker returning kicks is beyond me. Battle never impressed me either as PR. One would think that the release of Rossum would open up a spot for Spurlock as the primary returner. Yet reports today suggest that Battle will take over PR duties.

I'm with you. Delanie Walker is not really a TE. He'll do fine. We haven't adjusted to the "no wedge" rule yet anyway.
