Apparently everyone forgets how bad Maurice Hicks was.
Rossum is the man, he is our best option as returner
To be honest, I am content with a PR who does not give up the ball. I am still scared by Dexter Carter I guess. Just hold on to the ball and put our offense out there.

This is was weird to see on game day. Does anyone know the story behind his benching? He is the best KR/PR we have. Please save all your Battle is better rants. He is a liability out there trust me.

yea, i really hope he's back on the field this Sunday. That would be a stupid move by Singletary to keep him out. One game, fine, maybe it'll light a fire under his ass. But we need him out there.
Other than Lee our special teams as a whole has looked like crap...we about gave up another stupid ST touch to the friggin' Rams if we didn't luck out on that holding call. And might I add that if Percy Harvin didn't break free we win the game?

The problem with Rossum is you can wAStE a roster spot on Punt/Kick return specialist that isn't very good.

As for Battle, he hasn't had the entire off season, training camp, and first 3 weeks of the season practicing as a punt returner. He will be better next week.

Ummmmm okay. I like Battle but if you're saying that he's a better return man than Rossum, well nobody can help you figure it out. My saying anything more would be a waste of time.

Rossum was the most consistent returner in the NFL last year. I'm sure this was due to the illness and we will see him back for the Falcons game. I really think we might learn something from elevating Sheets in place of Spurlock though.

Agreed.

Just trying to block out the bad memories.

I assumed his benching was due to injury or something, if not he needs to get back out there because he is by far better than Battle. Spurlock may be okay, but as far as I can remember his call to glory in the return game is a kickoff he ran back when he was with the Bucs. Rossum has done far more, and in my opinion hasn't looked nearly as horrible as he's made out to be on this site...he'd have a TD already this year if it wasn't for a ticky-tack penalty versus the Vikings.

Thank God this guy SUCKS NOW! We have plenty of guys to return kicks and this move can keep J.Hill on the roster. I think if we're going to keep Spurlock on the roster we should give him a shot at PR/KR. Keep Walker back there and give Clements a chance or 2 per game.

I don't think I want our best DB returning punts.

I wouldn't want him doing it FT either but he does it PT now anyway. My point is we have a bunch of guys that can return kicks and shouldn't keep a specialist unless he is performing. We have an old specialist that is not performing, he may have a good career avg/2008 avg but he sucks this year benching him was the right move.

There a lot of guys that can catch a punt...until you put them in the game with guys flying around, and they have to make a split decision - catch & run, fair catch it, get away from the ball & let it roll, etc...Then you start seeing people f*ck up, because they are not experienced in this specialty.
Rossum needs to stay on the team.
