Goldson has played fine so far, if hes not making mistakes and getting burnt then I'm fine keeping him.

Goldson, are you serious? He IS our fastest man on defense. The man is one of the best in the league, watch. He is a freaking baller who has great instincts and speed and run support and makes great hits; he hits hard and clean, and also tackles with real good technique. He has good agility and ball skills too. His next int might go to the house because of his speed. (Dont know yet if he can break tackles.) Our best DB in production at the end of the year is my prediction.
On one play when there was a run up the middle for little to no gain in game 3, the guy who busted in there to make sure the RB went down was Goldson. The DLine stopped the run with holding their ground but instead of a LB cleaning up the play, Goldson came crashing in like a freight train. If you rewatch the game and look for the play, you'll see it, believe meeee!

What the hell has Battle proven? That he has banged up knees, is slow and is an under performer. I'd much rather start Jason Hill over him. Battle is the most overrated guy on the 49ersWebzone. A #5 WR at best on most teams. He just played here for a number of years because we had garbage. Josh Morgan and Jason Hill are both better than him.

Dude,
How do you go from oft injured, never starting, to one of the best in the league in 3 games?
I too like what I have seen SO FAR, but I am not ready put him in that class. One day maybe, but not yet.

Thats fine and dandy but to say we need to resign him now based on 2-3 games of performance is insane. At least wait the rest of the season and see how he produces. All I am saying is be patient. The team always extens contracts on players and then they turn out to be garbage. I wonder why that is. Example: anyone remember a guy by the name of Ahmed Plummer? I rest my case
Brown may have won the starting spot if he hadn't gotten injured. They see him as someone worth keeping that could develop into a starter, that's all that matters right now. Its good that we resign guys while they're cheap and before they have a chance to hit the market. I think it's smart if you ask me. And I doubt he will receive a huge contract so relax.
Just because he "COULD" be a starter doesn't mean we need to extend his contract or resign him right away. Let the guy hit the field and prove that he deserves to resigned.

The problem is, if you wait until they are proven, the price of the player shoots way up to the stars.
If you sign players you think are good, but are unproven (Staley, Spencer, Haralson) then you can get them at a discount.
If you only ever sign players who are absolutely proven, you will get killed by the salary cap and you will never have enough talent to win.
You don't sign players early because you think you're so clever that you don't need to wait, you sign them early because the modern NFL is all about the salary cap.
