"Look, guys, just trying to have a discussion here. Not looking to ruffle any feathers."
I personally dont think a negative mindset after a win is very a productive approach, granted there is still plenty to learn/improve upon from the 2 games, but saying you expect S Hill to fail in crunch time situations is just a poor attitude, esp when he has had game winning drives as a starter.
Give fans a day to celebrate a division win against a team that was 5-1 against us in the last few years, before voicing concerns over a players/team weakness that needs to be addressed.

So let me get this straight.
To everyone in this thread who has treated me like s*** for suggesting Hill is a below average quarterback: do you feel Hill can win us a championship?
That's really all I'm asking. Even if the answer is no, I agree that doesn't necessitate we bench him tomorrow. Now that we have throttled our two main rivals, I am just expressing my concern that this team will be good enough to make the playoffs but not good enough to do any damage.
A lot of us are excited about our options in next year's draft. With two picks, we'll probably be in a position to make a move for a franchise quarterback. The only problem is that doesn't help us at all in this year's playoffs, plus I'm sick and tired of rooting for draft position.
I can't shake the feeling that almost every single team in the NFL has a better starting QB than we do. Sure, we're 2-0, but that doesn't mean we wouldn't also be 2-0 with Alex Smith or Nate Davis or Joey freaking Harrington behind center.
So, are there no QBs out there who could be had for a mid-round pick that would at least boost the potential potency of our offense? Any love for Derek Anderson out there now that the Quinn era has begun in Cleveland? Remember, he led the Browns to 10-6 a couple years ago. Does Kellen Clemens still have any potential now that Sanchez has been given the reigns in New York?
Other ideas?

We even used to pick apart the 9ers Superbowl teams. Young couldn't win the big one, offense only scored 30 points a game, didn't win with enough style, etc.
There is always something to complain about. This is just part of the game.

Oh and do not bring up last weeks game twice on his gw drive he threw right into the hands of the d lucky for us there tards and dropped the pic. Again no hate for hill just I know what his limits are and what he brings and they won't be good against good teams. Next week will tell us alot
I have gotta say I don't understand the hate for Hill from a lot of you fans. Hill has come out supported his teammates and organization. He is winning games which last time I checked is what gets you championships. I haven't heard of teams being cut from the playoffs because the QB has a funny release or 3 step drop lol! Give him a break! We are winning games and regardless if he is throwing side arm, underarm or farting the ball down the field for scores "I want winners!" So if you can't enjoy the fact that we are winning games right now then I feel sorry for you because Joe Montanas and Steve Youngs don't just fall from the sky. You will be pissed for many years to come my friends. Go Hill and show all these band wagon fans to kiss your unsymmetrical ass and keep winning!

All I know is we have to start generating some passing yards, too. We ran the ball exceptionally well today, but teams are going to challenge us to throw at some point.

Hill isn't a great QB, but he is easily the best QB we have had the last few years. He fits well into the system we have. We don't ask much of him, he doesnt give much, but we win. That is all I ask since we will draft a QB next year.
I want to win the west and see carolina fail miserably!!!!
You seem a bit noobish in your postings. Can't you enjoy a 2-0 record especially considering they were both divisional games? That is huger than you think!

I say we ride it out with Hill this season and no I am not sold that Hill can win a superbowl. However if I could tell you exactly what people are capable of especially after only a dozen starts in the NFL I would not be in my current profession. I am willing to watch him operate this season and see what he can do. We may need a QB next season or we may be able to develop Nate. Nate has a better arm then a lot of QB's coming out of the draft next year and seems to have great pocket presence.

they are letting Hill keep his job longer than he merits. He has absolutely horrendous pocket awareness; sometimes he literally sacks himself by running into people, and he flashes the football right at the pass rushers he doesn't know are there. His accuracy is very hit or miss, usually miss. What limited production he does muster comes mostly from screens to Gore and Davis.
He's had one or two throws a game so far that have made me raise an eyebrow (impressed), but they can't overshadow the fact that he's a well below average NFL quarterback. I'm pretty torn about this season now. I'd be so thrilled for us to finally win another division title, but I don't think we'd have any shot whatsoever in the playoffs.
I'm no football expert, but I find it hard to believe that Alex Smith is actually worse than Hill. Supposedly, what Hill has going for him is that he's a "gamer" and he "manages the game" and he has an impressive record in a limited sample. Well, Smith has had his moments too. He had a "gamer" comeback against the Cardinals a couple years ago that had everyone buzzing about the second coming.
But I digress. If Smith is really and truly a bust, we need to get serious about 2009 success and trade for a quarterback.
exactly so be quiet & enjoy the victory's STOP
complaning when we are posting up W's
jjeeeeeeezzz!!!!
The guy is entitled to post his opinions. If you and the others disagree why not challenge him as some have done instead of attacking him?

I don't know if it's my post or my lack of red squares that seems noobish to you. I've been browsing these boards long enough to know how unknowns like me can expect to be treated. I'm just trying not to fight fire with fire.
Football is my second fan-love after the NBA, but I've been a Niner fan for around 15 of my 23 years.

That's a pretty concise way of putting it. I'm concerned about our ability to generate passing yards.

Just curious: were you planning to add to the conversation, or did you just stop by to pile on with your boys?

Results are what matter. The team doesn't have a true QB leader other than Hill. He gets the job done and the offense responds to his leadership and passion for the game. Once Hill starts falling on his face and causes this team to have a losing record all you haters can come out and complain. Until then, shut it.

Shaun Hill is the best QB on the roster. There's nothing else to be said. Have you seen Alex Smith play?

Did you read to the end of the post you quoted? I was talking about QBs not on the roster.
