Congratulations Shaun Hill, you managed to look like a weak-armed Alex Smith from two years ago...

how about he looked better than a QB who was just in the Super Bowl, playing at home.

Warner also has better weapons on offense....

let's not belittle Shaun by comparing him to Alex Smith from two years ago.
Why do you guys do it to yourselves, and each other?

Some of you “so called fans” are truly embarrassing… Some of you are still so blinded by your man crush with Alexcuses Smith that you can not give Hill credit for a solid effort!?! The oline has never looked and I mean – has NEVER looked as poor as it had yesterday, perhaps equal too but never more poor. The running game had never been as dissected as it was yesterday. The offensive play calling,,, even Hostler was not as predictable and doggedly futile. We told the world we were gonna run 60% of the time and guess what?!? We did, faithfully and pathetically.

Hill was harassed, hit, sacked, hurried, scared and at times left for dead! All of this to a player that has played in 14 career games!!! 14 CAREER GAMES!!! One of those games all he did was take a knee to end a game for the Vikings. And yet with limited playing experience, a new system, no help from the ground game, with the opposition daring him to carry the offense and in an extremely hostile situation he still composed himself (DURING THE GAME) against the defending NFC champs on the road, first game of the season and WON!!! No the O wasn’t pretty but Hill had 1,000,000 reasons to fold up, call it a day and lick his wounds. He didn’t – he played his ass off and didn’t need one excuse to do it. Stop being D-Bags and give some credit where credit is due. I just wanted to get that off my chest! Good job Hill!!! Now get better!!!

S. Hill 18 of 31 (58.1%) for 209 yard 1TD 0 INTs a passer rating of 89.3
K. Warner 26 of 44 (59.1%) for 288 yards 1 td 2 INTS a passer rating of 67.2

GREAT POST!!! AND SO VERY TRUE!!

Bottom line is that if Small Hands Smith were at QB yesterday....we lose 16-13.

Hill is a much better QB no matter how anyone spins it. Just look at the record, it speaks for itself.

Style points don't matter, only thing that matters is when you look at the NFC West Standings it reads S.F. 49ers 1-0!!!!!!

Hill > Smith. Period.

Hell, at one moment during yesterday's game........I saw a snapshot of Alex on the sideline with his helmet on. I was like "oh s**t, here goes the neighborhood". Thank God they kept Hill in and let him win it for us. Something that I know for sure Alex would not have. And you have to be a Kool-Aid drinker if you think Smith would have converted all 4 3rd downs on that 80 yard drive.

IMO that was motivation that Hill used for that TD. One of Hill's throws at the beginning of the drive was right to a Cardinals DB, luckily it was dropped.

Sure you can take shots at Smith, but the reason he was going to come in was because Hill wasn't playing up to par, period.

Hill had, basically, a 90 QB rating. He played VERY well considering how often he was sacked and pressured.

Even you can admit that up until that drive he was playing really poorly overall. Can't always blame everyone else, sounding like Chris Collinsworth blaming everyone except Jay Cutler for his horrid play. I think I would grow an ulcer from watching that s**t.

I thought he was playing ok, not great & not poorly up until that drive. He kept the team going, and didn't make too many bad mistakes. That fumble was a pretty close call to just being an incomplete pass, and not due to sucking. But the game plan wasn't exactly a showpiece for QB work.
I'm glad we won the game as a TEAM

I'm sick of "so called fans" who b***h and moan about our team and enjoy trashing the team every chance they get ...I dont know how many "niner fans" predicted we would get our asses handed to us yesterday...how the hell can someone call themselves a 49er fan when they talk s**t about the team 24/7 and can never be a little bit optimistic??

well we won, I'm hoping the team concept brings us more W's and the fair weather fans keep their mouths shut if they cant be positive about our team

In Alex Smith's "Shaun Hill-like" win in 2007 against Arizona, Smith's QB rating was 59.3 and he was only sacked 3 times. Yes, that rating would increase with his deserved TD, but it would not have been as good as Hill, who was sacked 4 times.

Hill actually played well for a guy who wasn't allowed to throw and get into a rythm very often until that last drive. He was the reason why we scored that first TD because he threw a pump fake and 50 yard pass to Bruce to set the TD up. So, Hill was responsible for our offense even scoring any points.
I have been a long time Smith supporter and Hill just simply rocked when he had to.

That is it right there. Smith supporters can't acknowledge that fact, then they are whinny cry babies with nothing better to do than to blast our winning QB.

It just never ends!!

Hill deserves praise for his play, period. When it had to be done, he did it...again!!

I am a believer of this man. He just goes out and wins games. Another come from behind win.

What more do you want?

Oh, that's right...Alex to be the starter...

even I'm
I'm very happy we won.

I'm very happy that Hill found what he needed to do on that last TD drive.

I want to see an awful lot more from him than the poor play he had during the rest of the game.
Hill did pretty fu**en good considering, 1st game, no rushing, no interior blocking, away game, away game @ a division rival.

Kudos to Shaun. Our O-line will get better in time as well as our running game and for that matter our play calling.

To come out of the desert with a win after the way our offense played you have to give hill credit and the best is yet to come.

That's real!!! If we balance our attack and incorporate short passes we could be a seriously dangerous offense. I posted yesterday that it seemed like Raye was experimenting... He was only calling long pass patterns and off tackle runs. This is not Hills skill set at all and it's a terrible game plan against any team - unless it's 1977. So to say Hill didn't look good was an understatement and an overstatement at the same time. When the patterns were crossing, shallow and with a deep option Hill picked the Cards apart.

Up until the packages became short and varied the Cards did a run blitz like every defensive snap. They sent the Dlinemen into the gaps and after Hill while also sending in a 5th person off the edges with the backers in run support. This left the middle open for middle screens, strong side screens, quick slant, quick outs - drag routes. We did none of that consistantly early. Hill was a victim of an EXTREMELY poor game plan. But once Raye woke up from his mid afternoon nap and adjusted the play calling to let Hill manage the ball control by passing - BOOM long drive and a TD!!!

If "No Excuses are Needed" then why did you open the thread with a whole bunch of Alexcuses about why Shaun Hill didn't look very good?

Are you still required to wear a helmet when you take a shower? Get a life - tool!
