You really don't get it, do you? You think that these guys just talk and write that way on Twitter or when texting? Check out their interviews or talk show appearances, or if you're lucky enough to meet them in person. Yeah, some have learning disabilities or speech impediments, but the majority are simply uneducated, and for a college "grad", that's an embarassment. There's something seriously wrong with a system and culture that alibi's them through life, pays them an obscene amount of money and engenders a sense of entitlement that encourages anti-social and illegal behavior and then practically rewards it by virtual slaps on the wrist when caught. Granted that latter part is changing, but the rest of the coddling that goes on with celebrities, in this case, athletes, continues unabated. Skating through the educational system is just the tip of the iceberg. Sometimes, it's just painful to watch, that's all. And I really didn't set out to change the topic of this post. I think you're pretty right on with this. It's like when people complain about what the media does and does not cover - they cover what they do because of DEMAND. Plain and simple. It'd be great if we all watched CSPAN for our political coverage but FoxNews and MSNBC just get better ratings because they dumb it down for the lowest common denominator.
