No QB competition

Im starting to get the feeling that there really isnt any real QB competition at all. Hill came in last year and got Singletary the job by winning 5 of the last 8 games. I cannot see a scenario where Smith comes in after really being gone for almost two whole seasons and performing at a high enough level to win us games or even beat out Hill. Hill has done enough already at this point to deservre the job. Singletary wants to create a situation where not naming the starter and having a open competition makes the two better players but that didn't work last season. I just hope he doesn't lose the trust and respect of his guys by playing up a competition that really shoudn't be going on in the first place, trying not to let each QB get comfortable by naming the starter now
