Ahmad Brooks

I say he sticks. As for how good a football player he is...we really don't know yet. He hasn't played for us. However, if any coach can get his best, it's arguably Singletary. Obviously, the Bengals saw enough to make him a 3rd rd pick...so, there's most likely something he has to offer. I sure haven't given up on him...at least not 'til he plays some games and we see what he's got.
I saw just glimpse from the past in that clip on 49ers.com. He's a real big boy and has some strength and power. I like how he slammed right into Staley and drove him back.

I know it is just one snippet, but it sure is exciting when all the doom and gloom about our pass rush permeates every part of analysis of our team and rightfully so. If Brooks and Manny can elevate their play, they certainly would be strong improvements over Green and TBC.

That alone is worth getting jazzed!

No way he's getting cut, he's the only depth we have at olb.

Matt M tweeted Niners coach Singletary is "excited" by what he's seen from OLB Ahmad Brooks. Who's on 1st team in place of injured Haralson.

Who wanted him released now?

Yep. It is still a long shot but the guy has the physicals to be a really good player. It is what is between his ears. If he has matured or coach Singletary has put the fear of God into him, things could get very interesting.

But one step at a time.
Isn't it correct that the Bengals threw Brooks in multiple roles and Brooks could not handle it? I don't want to see what this guy can do as an everywhere guy because we already have two of them, Lawson and Willis. I want to see what this guy can do when he doesn't need to think on the field and has the sole responsibility of attacking the QB or the ball.

I honestly believe, if you have the talent, then just about any player can be used effectively and Brooks will be effective in a very reduced specialist role.

iF they any any form of good depth at OLB i think he would've been cut by now. a few good plays in training camp doesn't mean much to me when it has yet to be transferred onto the field. Good news that he's looking good but til i see him do some thing on the field during a game my assessment won't change about him.

Singletary wouldn't get excited over a player for nothing, especially a linebacker. He obviously is seeing the talent in Brooks.

But talent has never been the issue with Brooks. It's been about discipline, attitude and dedication to the game of football. He's probably one of the more gifted athletes on the roster, but he struggled with those other things at UVA and in Cincy (along with injuries), so if he can figure that piece out, he's got a chance.
I like what im hearing so far, he has the ability.... It may be Ahmad Brooks who ends up being a player this year and not Manny Lawson. I have yet to hear a peep about how Lawson is playing in TC and word is he did not look all that great in OTA's and Mini Camp(s).

I think the guy sticks around this year. IMO, he's the better option over J.Moore

I hope so because if we use him properly and he stays on good behavior, then we have some major firepower on defense and I mean major.

I like it.... but wait till pre-season games, then we can really see what Brooks has.

The more effective OLB's we have, the better. Tag team them to keep 'em fresh and knock the opposing glamour boy on his keister.
