funny link about it being haunted.
I thought it was called the "Whizzer". Talk about dangerous - you basically had a seat belt that wrapped around 3 people. And I remember when someone did die on that coaster.
Yeah, I thought it was called the Whizzer too, and I totally remember hearing that some kid was killed on it. That thing was ridiculousy dangerous. I think I rode it once, and that was enough for me.
It was so long ago, but I'm pretty sure it was Willards Wizzard. As soon as I seached that name it came up with some news about that kid dieing on it.
Saturday, March 29, 1980 - A 13-year-old boy was killed in an accident on the Willard's Whizzer roller coaster at Marriott's Great America theme park in Santa Clara, California. The victim was attempting to board the ride when he was struck from behind by another car. Several other people were injured in the accident. Great America is now owned and operated by Paramount.

I remember when this happened and a couple of years later they still had the ride open. It became the "thrill" ride because its reputation. I'm shocked no one fell out of those long seats when you hit those high speed banking turns.
Sorry for the thread jack ...
