Come on Baalke, make it happen. Keep Frank & go niners
I don't know, If I'm Gore and say, the Colts or a team positioned like the Colts comes calling, I'd have a decision to make.

Gotta let Hyde play. Hyde is bigger & faster at this point. Frank should be the Closer because he still is showing some wiggle but not for a whole game.

Doesn't matter who starts, just rotate the 2 of them.

This crap scares me, I would hate to see Gore wearing another jersey. He's proved this year he can still play, we need to bring him back but as the poster above said, if a good team like the Colts comes calling & offers more $$ than the Niners are willing to pay, that's a tough decision for Frank to make. This off season I'm gonna be on pins and needles hoping #21 is back with us.

2005 Post Draft Report On Frank Gore
In a random Twitter exchange, someone pass along this screenshot from a 2005 article. An author put together a fantasy assessment of then San Francisco 49ers running back Kevan Barlow. Part of the assessment included a discussion of how the 49ers addressed the running back position. At that point, they had recently added Miami running back Frank Gore to the mix. Here is how this author broke it down:
People miss on draft picks all the time, but even still, 10,615 yards later, I think we can sum this up in one word: Whoops.

Hate to see him go.
IMO, it's all about the $$$$$$$$
AND, if the OLine doesn't open holes for Frank, he won't get the yards.

At this point, I have more faith in Frank Gore to find the yards when the holes aren't there then any back the 49ers have or could potentially have. What Hyde brings to the table is that he won't wear down and can potentially make bigger runs when the holes are there.

Not meant as a criticism of Frank - more on the OLine.
Hyde brings an added dimension of speed.

Frank is the heart of this team. Unfortunately with that being said, he is not the Frank Gore of years past. He has lost a step, which isn't good for a guy who never really had blazing speed, he is also less explosive out of his cuts. He probably won't have anymore 200+ yd games and he might not even hit 1000 yds this season. He has had a great career, but unfortunately, his time is up. We need to start thinking about his replacement as I am not completely sold on Hyde. Hunter may be a good stop gap if he can come back anywhere close to his previous ability, but we need a thoroughbred, so far I haven't seen one on this squad since a couple seasons back in a slightly younger Gore. Bill Walsh may have been harsh, but his philosophy worked: "Better to move on from a player a year early than a year late. " Now we're hoping Gore can give us another good year which will happen but we don't need good, we need great. You might say the line has been sketchy at best, but Gore has had success with even the most mediocre o-lines in history. Frank, I am a huge fan. I'm sorry but it's over. Hopefully your intelligence and love of the game will rub off on our younger players, and you finish off the season with everything you got.

Gore is sill playing well, but he probably had his worst game of the season on Sunday with a fumble lost & blowing a block on a sack. I think he'll be fine though.

Gore is looking jaded atm. We need the big fella to throw back a few years and play one for the ages.

Good point. We may want him back - but he may not want to come back.

No Way Gore is coming back. 49ers already projected to be over the salary cap by atleast $4million

It would be a mistake not to bring Gore back. It would be devastating to see him in another uniform. And it's not restricted to his on the field production. Which BTW is still OK given that the team cannot get opponents to respect their passing game and stop keying on stopping the run. But it's also his leadership in the locker room. Right now he's the heart and soul of this team. The only others who could compare are Boldin - he hasn't been with the team long enough, and Justin Smith - he's not a man of words.
The Niners have to have him back. One year minimum. Probably more like two. Three would be nice but may be pushing it. We'll see.
