The best coach the 49ers had since Bill Walsh.
Best 49ers coach since Walsh? Boulder Dash!!!
Rex Ryan made it to the AFC Championship game his first three seasons as the Jets head coach, so does that make him the best Jets coach since Weeb Ewbank? I think not.
Just some facts to ponder about your favorite head coach since Bill Walsh...
Harbaugh took over a very talented, yet under valued team that had been built by Mike Nolan, Scott McCloughan, and Mike Singletary. Harbaugh added no other players of significants during his tenure, as Baalkee had complete control of the roster at the time, except maybe with wide receiver A.J. Jenkins, who Harbaugh seemed to have hand picked. Harbaugh praised Jenkins as a great receiver to the media, stating he was "NOT a bust". Inevitably A.J. Jenkins was cut and is no longer in the NFL.
While having his best season as a pro, Alex Smith was replaced with Kaepernick after a concussion. With the best defense in the league, Kap marched on to the Super Bowl and lost. Who knows what the outcome would have been had Harbaugh stuck with Alex. Now, Smith has the best QB rating in the league and Keapernick? Well, he's a GQ model / activist who will probably never play in the NFL again.
Harbaugh has a history of being insubordinate with his bosses, allegedly telling Jed York in front of the team that "only men are allowed in the meeting rooms". Does that sound like something Bill Walsh would say to Eddie D?
Harbaugh, though he may have been a good ball coach, has a short shelf life. He came to San francisco with that overshadowing him, but it was all forgotten when he started winning. When the dust finally settled and the Seahawks, Cardinals, as well as most of the league... "had it better than us"... the party was over and the collateral damage was evident.
Keep believing what you want, not many good coaches after Walsh anyway, but I'll give it to Seifert before Harbaugh. Harbaugh created his own mess in Santa Clara, and when things start falling apart in Michigan he'll start it all over again and break the bank somewhere else as their team's new savior head coach. And so is the way of Jim Harbaugh...
Go Niners!
