Keep hearing of all the positions, Baalke had a special talent for scouting CBs. I don't get where this is coming from. None of his CBs have made the probowl. Most have shown very little so far (Reaser, Redmond, Johnson, Acker, etc). He passed on an All Pro in Peters. Only marginal success story is T Brock, but he's not on the team anymore. RR has miles to go before he can be considered a success, especially since Baalke passed on Dak for him.

The only thing Baalke accomplished was finding late round CBs that could barely make an NFL roster, and that's just cause we have such a lack of talent there. Where is this perception coming from?

Signing Carlos Rogers and Hitner, drafted Culliver. Brock, Acker and Cooper still hanging around, verdict is out on Ward,Robinson and Redmond. Reid is looking good,Tartt mightve found a home in this D.

Do we give partial credit for hiring Harbs who brought Fangio and guys like Tarrell Brown and Goldson emerging?

Think he was solid.
Either way, pre season has showed us that it's gonna be a rough year for our CBs. We'll fix it next year tho.
Stop b*tching about old sh*t
Baalke's problem wasn't finding talent. It was his management of their coaches that did him in.

Oh. So it was Harbaugh's fault taking AJ Jenkins 1st round when no other team had him 3rd round or later.
Not sure why were still talking about baalke in like 50% of threads lol

Because his terrible drafts still haunt the team and set us back at least half a decade. #2012draftnoplayersleftsince2015

Wrong.

Yahoo! Sports' Michael Silver was actually in the war room with Jeff Fisher and Les Snead in St. Louis last weekend and observed the Rams' 2012 draft. He was on 101 ESPN sports radio in St. Louis today and filled hosts Randy Karraker, D'Marco Farr and Chris Duncan in on the Rams' draft strategy when it came to selecting a receiver.

In response to whether or not he knew the Rams would take Appalachian State receiver Brian Quick with the 33rd overall pick, Silver responded:

"Yeah, I sort of knew their thinking on the receiver position. And I think the thinking was this: Blackmon at No. 6, we love it. We're not going to trade up to do it but we love it at No. 6. If we don't get him we pretty much have to get one of the five that we worked out, and I think the order was Blackmon first, with Quick and Jenkins right there with him. Then it went down to (Michael) Floyd or (Kendall) Wright after that. Once the four were gone and Quick was left, they did not want to mess around."

It's interesting that, at least according to Silver, the Rams had Quick and Jenkins rated ahead of Floyd and Wright because many people speculated that St. Louis would have taken Floyd at No. 14 had Arizona not selected him at No. 13. But that was never the case. The Rams had Trent Richardson ranked first, Blackmon ranked second and LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers ranked third. Brockers, whom Silver believes the Rams would have taken at No. 6 even if they hadn't traded down, ultimately went to St. Louis at No. 14.

Getting back to Jenkins, it's always interesting to hear about how things played out in teams' war rooms after the fact. I'm sure plenty of Niners fans thought Jenkins was a reach at No. 30 but there's a strong possibility that the Rams would have taken him at No. 33, so clearly the Illinois' receiver was ranked higher on teams' draft boards than people thought.

This is just one more example of how far off the media and fans are when it comes to projecting what teams are thinking on draft night.

And from Jim Thomas of the St Louis Post Dispatch (and who was at the time a Rams beat writer) :

One of the reasons the Rams were not overly flustered about missing out on wide receivers Justin Blackmon of Oklahoma State and Michael Floyd of Notre Dame is they felt they have very good wideout options at the top of the second round.

But one of the most-coveted of those options, A.J. Jenkins of the University of Illinois, was snatched away by San Francisco with the 30th pick — or third-to-last selection — of the first round.

How coveted?

League sources told the Post-Dispatch on Thursday afternoon that the Rams liked Jenkins so much that his grade wasn't much different than the one given Blackmon by the team's personnel department. Blackmon was the first wide receiver taken in the draft, going No. 5 to Jacksonville (which traded up with Tampa Bay for the pick.)

Not only did Jenkins make a pre-draft visit to the Rams in early April, he was one of at least four players the Rams engaged in private workouts last weekend. Backup Rams quarterbacks Kellen Clemens and Tom Brandstater threw to Jenkins in Champaign, Ill. (According to the NFL, private workouts must be conducted on the player's college campus.)
Baalke was an all time bad GM. Look at our current team. This is the result of a guy pretending to be a gm but didn't know anything really.
Baalke was good at finding corners that can play in the NFL. Sure none of them are pro bowlers but most of them are decent depth. Just about all of the corners he signed has contributed to the team or to other NFL teams. I cant think of any corners he drafted that were absolute busts.

Baalke's biggest problem in a long list of problems IMO was not being able to find PRO BOWL caliber players.

Baalke could have burned this franchise to the ground and still some will find a reason to give him one more year or find excuses.

He has been a cancer for this franchise. Why so many defend a guy or create reasons for someone that caused so much damage with his ACL addiction and flops is mind boggling?
