Step back from this for a second: disciplined for arm wrestling in Vegas. Yet they're moving the Raiders there. It's this kind of sh!t, this rank hypocrisy, that people hate about the league - not the players or the game, but the league and the owners.
I know what you're trying to say but a team moving to Vegas has nothing to do with players being in a casino and getting paid to promote non sanctioned NFL s**t without getting prior permission. It's already in the rules. It will prob be changed. Players get fined for wearing the wrong color socks. Big whoop. lol

I don't see how the league can continue this stance while putting a team in Las Vegas. The only reason why Vegas is even a viable option is because of whats been built off gambling.
From what I understand, this is a charity event where the proceeds are coming from TV revenue, not gambling. It takes place in a casino, but there won't be any gambling in the background while the event is going on. All the machines are powered off.
The whole thing is silly. I don't expect Bowman to be disciplined in any way, maybe a small fine. Probably not even worth fighting over, just pay the fine and get the league out of his hair.

Well the arm wrestling event was captured and produced for television by CBS, a television partner of the NFL if my memory serves correctly LOL. That sounds like an NFL sanctioned event to me.

lol
According to the NFL, players participating in this specific event — without pre-approval — are in violation of the gambling policy and subject to discipline.*key words in bold
they clearly didn't go through the proper procedures for this event. If they did it wouldn't be a thing.
lol

Tell me, does CBS have to get the NFL's permission to air anything with NFL players, regardless of the purpose?

Originally posted by SoCold:I did read read the story. I was asking common-man obvious questions to make a point: No employer should have this kind of control over their human employees. If players aren't acting on behalf of the NFL they shouldn't prohibited from doing anything legal, with anyone. Nor should CBS, or any other broadcaster for that matter, have to get the NFL's "permission" for anything regarding grown men. The NFL's position is simply unconscionable and defy's common-man sense, especially given that they have just voted - overwhelmingly - to place a team in Vegas. And perhaps I read over it but I read nowhere that the NFL fined CBS.

The fine hairs the NFL is splitting are amazing: place a team in the gambling (and prostitution) hub of America
