RIP, another ex-NFL player dying way too young. Didn't he have a good rookie year and nothing else because of injuries?

Yup this was exactly it. He admitted that he couldn't control his habit/need to smoke weed, and said that stunted his growth as a player in the NFL.

Won the Heismann and had a 1000 yard season in Chicago.
