They will probably play Seattle in the SB and after watching Seattle, they thought that they didn't need him. A 3rd round browns pick is a late 2nd rd. and they are probably looking at two top players in the bottom of the second round draft.

Its a compensatory 3rd, so more like a 4th round pick.

I'm a bit confused how they did that though. Have comp picks been awarded yet? Or is it an assumption that they will get one?
Pats making business decisions again. Hard to argue against a team that has been excellent for so long.

It's very reminiscent of Bill Walsh and the "better trade a player a year too early than a year too late" mindset.

Yes and no, Bill never had to deal with the salary cap and Collins is not a descending player. New article on cbssports have him quoted saying he doesn't like to watch football on tv which feeds the fire a bit on his appreciation and love for the game.
The upside to this is maybe Collins and the players Cleveland is getting back from injury will help them win a few games to push us to the number one pick.

The latter. The Browns should get at least 1 3rd round comp pick which will now go to New England.

Part bu$$ine$$ decision and part Belichick getting tired of Collins free lancing too much.

More and more stories have emerged about the big plays the NE defense had given up on plays that Collins was not sticking to his assignment and being responsible for a big gain by the opponent.

One thing BB insists on is everyone doing their job as a team. If we look at his history, this is not the first time he has gotten rid of somebody that was not towing the company line. The fact he sent Collins to the worst team in football sends a message to everyone else on the roster as well as those that will come in the future.

In addition, Elandon Roberts has been very impressive in limited time on the field. They believe he will do a very good job replacing Collins. His 82 rating is not that far behind Collins' 87.

Send a message. Save $14million.

Looks like New England knows how to keep secrets. Unlike SOME FO's...

seriously, all our stuff gets leaked and ruins the deals.

Man must suck for Collins. I can imagine he was being a diva during contract talks and Belichick was like "You want to be a diva? off to cleveland you go". From the best team to the worst team. Im sure Collins learned a valuable lesson haha
Would laugh off my ass if he returns to NE during FA.

They picked up a guy in his contract year who demands a lot of money. Don't know whether this was a good move. In worst case they'll have to franchise-tag him.

As a fellow poster already stated: IF the Browns are awarded with a comp 3rd-rounder, this pick will be gone to NE. If not, the Browns will have to give up their original 4th-rounder.

Could mean a lot for us getting Garrett with the reports of liking Watson.
