Leading up to the draft he threw some shade at Alex before the draft, then during it and now after it. Verbatim "he can come in and run the offense and do it at the same level if he has to, physically", said Nolan". "He doesn't wow you when he throws the ball", said the other. Nolan, "Uh huh."

Hit the road already you kinda missed, maybe not we have no idea what Rodgers would have done as a starter on a 2-14 team, but you almost ruined Alex. As is the case with most high draft picks QB needy teams. We get it you need to win now, but it's been almost a decade and here you are no longer coaching and Smith has been to an NFC championship game along with making the playoffs 3 years in a row you don't need to win anymore you already lost.

this ^ ....whats the fascination with a QB who is no longer on our team? ... nvm I think I know why.
Mike Nolan had 3 full seasons as the 49ers head coach - 2005,2006, and 2007. 14 quarterbacks were taken in the 2005 draft. 4 are currently still in the league - Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Cassel, and Ryan Fitzpatrick. There were 13 quarterbacks in the 2006 draft, 3 are still in the league - Jay Cutler, Tavaris Jackson, Charlie Whitehurst. There were 11 quarterbacks in the 2007 draft. 1 is still in the league - Drew Stanton.

Who's not in the league? Jason Campbell, Vince Young, Matt Leinart, Kellen Clemens, JaMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, John Beck...

The point is, Alex Smith isn't Aaron Rodgers, but I'd take him over every other quarterback chosen during those three years of drafts. The problem wasn't that he picked Alex Smith. The problem was a big ol' fat helping of Mike Nolan coaching Alex Smith during that time.
Alex and Aaron both check it down until you fall asleep, then throw bombs when they have a lead. Those qbs are average when their defense isn't turning the ball over.

Game managers=average qb play.

Aaron hasn't won a trophy since Woodson was in his prime and the reason they won that super bowl was because of that defense and vanilla safe play calling.

Scary thing is that he still might be here if he drafted Rodgers
Does he still have a job in the NFL? He coached SD's linebackers last year.

Alex just screams multiple championships.

Packers need a great defense again to help them get to the super bowl.

Their trash ass division is a surefire push into the playoffs.

Agree. Alex is gonna be the MVP this year. 6000K yards, 60 TDs, and he's gonna play defense and get 20 sacks.

-how the media portrays the great Aaron Rodgers.
My initial impression of Nolan was his first game as 49ers coach. After the opening kickoff he called time out, little did I know things would get worse the longer he coached.
