McGaughey has ties to Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman.
He was the Giants' assistant special teams coordinator in 2007-10 while Gettleman oversaw New York's pro personnel department. From the Charlotte Observer.
So there you go he knows someone.
The 49ers could have saved themselves some serious coin instead of paying some glorified cheer leader six figures. They could have just signed a local meth head for a fraction of the cost.
