Just how easy is it for opposing coaches to steal signs/play calls?

So I saw this gif posted in another thread. And it got me thinking.

If Chip feels the need to have this crazy orchestrated sideline coaches to call in plays just how easy is it to steal plays?

Yeah, and why do coaches feel they need to cover there mouths? Do opposing teams hire lip readers?

Probably could interpret the signals etc... but it'd be pretty easy to double bluff. There were a bunch of stories about Peyton's Omaha calls before the SB... bout how people had it figured out etc. Still saw at least one offside penalty from Carolina defenders trying to be too smart in reacting to it.

The mouth covering isnt for lip reading, it is for background noise reduction.

And the pace of chips offense negates any sign stealing, if you waste time on the signs you will fail to get your call and defense on the same page.
