He paints a very bleak picture of the way NFL teams treat their player's health. I'm glad the NFL is getting sued because sometimes that's the only way you can get people to change. Guys shouldn't play hurt and do permanent damage to their body.

Get the f**k outta here. Like the players are oblivious to what's going on. It takes 2 to tango. lol
Guys know what they're getting into when they sign those multi-million dollar contracts and throwaway their well being when they're retired for the $$$. Guys taking massive amounts of painkillers before, during, and after games is no big secret. I think any NFL fan would know that just by watching a game on tv.

I can side with the players on the concussion issue because the league obviously did whatever it could to stamp out any negative reports on the long term effect of concussions. Also for the longest time it was thought only boxers were in danger from the long term effects of head blows and concussions. On the other hand the other long term effects of playing professional football crippling knee injuries, ankle injuries, spinal cord injuries have been well known since Jim Thorpe played almost 100 years ago. Anyone who got at least a D in 8th grade science knows that pain is the body's way of telling you to slow down, rest and let it heal, doing otherwise you are risking making things a lot worse. So unless Newberry scores under 60 on an I.Q. test he knows what he was getting into and decided to trade glory, big money, and hot chicks for putting his long term health at a major risk.

He's not suing over the injuries to his knees, but for the internal damage done to his organs. The doctors gave him a clean bill of health. It would be like a company sending employees into an environment with a hazmat suite that the knew wasn't adequate. A doctor should never perscribe medication that would hurt someone...that's why drugs are supposed to flow through doctors.

Yes Jeremy, you must have not did it for the money and just for the love of the game. Complains about the league in the interview with his Raiders jersey framed in the background.

Liver and kidney damage. Vicodone is horrible, especially if you get drink alcohol.

He was a good center for us
Why are we all pretending that these players are outraged over this? Its a money grab. Everyone wants in on the pile of cash. Every player who ever set foot on an NFL field understood what bashing your head repeatedly would do to you down the road. They all knew the abuse they put themselves through would come back to bite them later. You pump yourself full of pain killers and PED's, and what do you expect?

Its so pathetic that these guys are trying to claim that they are victims here. They bashed their heads into other people for a very good living, and popped all kinds of drugs to get them through the pain, and they ALL knew what was going on.

Just about every single NFL player had a higher quality of life because of their opportunity. A lot of them made more money over their average length careers than the average joe will make over the course of decades, or maybe lifetimes. You got to live it up as an NFL player, and you got very well paid. Now that youre fat and broke, dont come back with a BS lawsuit.

Im not calling out Newberry specifically, but all these guys crying about this stuff is ridiculous. A lot of these guys made millions, and you cant afford decent healthcare now that your body is breaking down? Who's fault is that?

Every NFL player understands that he is likely going to live a shorter life because of the job. NFL players die in their 50's and 60's. Its just how it works. The job isnt safe. It comes at a price, but theres plenty of benefits. Most guys probably enter the NFL already having done damage to themselves after HS and College ball.

I love NFL football, but its such a screwed up league. Between the greed of the owners, and the former players looking to milk them dry, they really are doing their best to kill the golden goose.
Yeah be glad. Now they can make even more rule changes and turn it into 2 hand touch. You get paid millions to play. You know the risks. Sign a release and play. Otherwise get another job. Newberry is just upset he didn't make what the modern day players make.

100% correct.
Hmm, wonder if his limo company and vineyard/wedding venue in Brentwwood aren't doing so well.

I like Jeremy, not close friends or anything but was best friends with his cousin all through our school years and knew Jeremy as a kid as well as many in his family...but this is such BS, nothing more than a money grab.

At some point I don't see how this league will continue unless they are able to include some kind of waiver where the team/NFL can't be sued down the line for injuries suffered while playing. Not saying just send them on their way after they retire, medical insurance should be part of the pension package, but these BIG $$ lawsuits are going to kill the league, be it financially or just more and more rules that ruin the game.
