This kind of sucks for those of us in the Bay Area. If anything was blacked out it was raiders games and we got to see better games around the league instead of them. lol

So how does the NFL fire back? Maybe only allow ESPN to air games...expand the NFLN....

Good. Teams that get public subsidies shouldn't be allowed to blackout tax payers.

Is it the teams doing it?

It's the NFL doing it, which ludicrously pays no taxes as a "non-profit."

Good rule. Its not fair to the fans to prevent them from watching games just because they can't afford to go. Especially in this economy.

Great, now we're forever stuck with raiders' games.

According to the link this ruling won't necessarily change anything for the NFL. Just means the government no longer supports the rule.

Maybe now we will start to see much larger stadiums. I think teams were afraid to build 100k stadiums for fear that they would have blackouts. If that is no longer a risk, build huge stadiums, and even if you don't always sell out, you can still be taking in more money than if you artificially lower the number of seats available. It may conceivably also result in lower ticket prices in a mega stadium.
Food for thought: What would the noise factor be like in a stadium that holds 150k people?

Means nothing to Niners fans. We just got a new stadium that is nowhere near that size.
