Grew up in Bay Area and always knew what a switch was...but family were Okies and Texans that came out during Depression and WW2, so they brought the lingo with them.

I'm surprised that is considered abuse in Texas. Schools can still paddle kids down there. So what's the difference?

ll didn't get hit with switches? I live in DC and I used to get hit with them as a kid. My grandmother made you go pick your own switch then would beat you with it.

A switch on the butt is not child abuse. Now if he hit him across the face, then thats different. This society has gone bonkers.

My friends went to Catholic School in NYC and they told me stories of small nuns having big bad ass paddles in the front of the classroom and looking for any excuse to whack the kids over and over.
