even worse, remember how glen coffee was lighting up the preseason a few years back ?
he ended up with 2.7 ypc for the year and had God call upon him to join the US airforce

Didn't we lead the league in preseason rushing for a few years? Clayton, Sheets, Coffee, and I think we had another "all star" in that mix.

It is going to be tough for him to make the squad just like it is for everyone else. Winston was a 5 star recruit who ruined his career and knew and owned up to it. He just wanted a shot. Heck he is 25 years old already so he doesnt have much time to make his mark. I hope he sticks somewhere, whether its PS or the 53. Good luck to him. He has the physique of AP. Huge guy

He may have won himself a job (somewhere) with the cutback he made towards the end of the game. He showed good patience, vision, and change-of-direction quickness that can't be taught. And as you point out, he's a large, powerful runner as well. He does remind me of LeGarrette Blount in some ways. Wish he had still been on the team when Glen Coffee got religion; that year might have gone a bit differently.

would love to see him stashed away on the PS. Was more impressive than Hampton by far. I do like what we have seen from Alfonso Smith as well.

I think you have me confused with someone else. I think Hampton should have been shown the exit for good like 2 preseasons ago.

Last season we had: Gore, Hunter, James, Dixon, and Miller. And Tukuafu for Miller when he got hurt. That's 5 backs. Right now we only really have Gore, Hyde, and James, And Miller. So they Probably will keep one of the new guys I would think. Even if its just to keep a seat warm until Lattimore can play.

It will be Smith if anything. Smith actually has NFL experience.

Thats my feeling too. Pass blocking is crucial. Smith has shown that ability against actual NFL caliber competition. That gives him a huge advantage.

I saw the SD game replay last night, but the more I paid attention to Winston, the more he's running style reminds me of Terrell Davis.. Funny because even when he scored on that long TD run, his form and body movement was much like Terrell Davis..
That's prolly why we didn't waste no time on letting Hampton go, Jim and the coaching staff prolly wants to use and see more of Winston this Thursday..

Now we are a lot better. Teams are watching our PS like crazy. The guys we cut would make the 53 on most rosters out there.
