Yup gotta remember expectations are high, he ain't 6th round pick battling for a back up position or a roster spot. Anything less than being the starter, will bring out the mob. He's gonna have to do better than 2nd and 3rd team players.

His jersey sales are high and he is popular. The media is just showing what the public wants to see and sell stories.
Its another example of how the media caters to casual fans and non fans who follow players and not the actual game.
They expended a lot of time talking about a 7th round pick on the rams, michael sam, just to cater to the people following that story.
Instead of giving time to players who deserve it.
