Turns out a player had a rare heart conditioned, so they signed him anyway and then cut him so he'd get a little money.

Classy move by the Seahawks...who knew they had it in them?

It's curious that such a condition could go un-detected/diagnosed for so long for an athlete at that level. But, as heart-broken as he must be seeing his dream of playing in the NFL shattered, the bright side is that at least his condition was finally diagnosed - before a possible 'on the field' tragedy.

Also reminds me of Thomas Herrion. Thankfully this was caught before he started trying to play through the condition.
I also applaud Seattle for their classy move.

That too. I knew Gaines when he was in high school, so his story sticks out in my mind.
RIP

Good gesture and I applaud them for that. We need more owners like this in the league.
However, Paul Allen is by far the richest owner in the league and it's not even close. $555,000 is nothing for him. Not to take away from the Seahawks or anything though.

Exactly, Tony. I've been saying the same thing for 15 damn years....
Any team in the NFL would have done the same thing.

you have it backwards: PEDs caused his heart condition. There's a reason no one noticed the condition before he was a Seahawk...
