I was in that boat at one point, but after you watch year after year of flame-out FAs, you realize that it's all about getting fans in the seats, but you're mortgaging the future potential of your team.

This is what happens when you sign players for too much money. It rarely works out in the end. If anything it burdens your team.

His contract is out of control. Having said that the dude was burning people right and left last season. He always seemed to be open but Tannegarbage would throw it way too late or not at all. Not sure why I watched so many Dolphins games last season but before most of you talk s**t about the guy maybe you should go watch him play. His contract makes him unattainable but he's a better receiver than he gets credit for. He's more than just a speed deep threat.

True. But it is his own fault that people are laughing now. Thats what happens when you want to live in Miami and take the biggest contract possible. When you do that 9 out of 10 times you will suck on your new team.

Peter king mentioned the respect other franchises have for Baalke and now we see others trying to behave similarly. Folk everywhere are trying to trade away expensive assets. They want to affix a price to players and get rid of them if they are over priced. I hope our soon to be free agents are taking notice. Teams are wising up and some won't be dishing out ridiculous contracts no more

.... E.G- Nate Clements ...even though after that opening day blanket party our DB's put on for the Cardinals receivers , my hopes were sky high , and I thought that 8 year 80 million dollar deal they signed Clements to was a steal

Will we still see webzone posters begging the front office to sign big stars in free agency?
You know the answer to that already.

FA is also a method of getting fans in the seats... Struggling teams need to generate some positive momentum, even if they overspend...
And it only takes on team to offer a bad contract.

I have to disagree there. He's a straight-line vertical threat, that is pretty much it. For what it is worth, he's very good at it, but he's not a #1 WR by any means, not a complete wide receiver, would be a nice complementary piece to go along with a guy like Dez Bryant, Calvin Johnson, even Michael Crabtree.
He'd be a perfect fit on the 49ers for what they need, but at the half the salary...at best. His hands aren't overly reliable, he is a lazy route runner, gives a half-hearted attempt when it comes to run blocking. He's inconsistent at best and not a Top 10 WR, even if he's being paid like one.
For Pittsburgh, Antonio Brown is a better overall receiver, not as fast as Wallace, but better in pretty much every facet of the game besides "going deep."
