Cutler didn't receive a signing bonus on the seven-year, $126.7 million contract he signed last week
Ok

The deal includes $17.5 million fully guaranteed at the timing of signing. The rest of Cutler's 2014 and '15 base salaries are guaranteed for injury only until the third day of the 2014 league year in March and the 2016 money until the third day of the 2015 league year.
So, out of these 54m "guaranteed", 17.5m are REALLY guaranteed???
I don't understand the second sentence language-wise...if he stays healthy until the third day of 2014 league year, he will get his base salaries of 2014 AND 2015 season? Or what do they mean with the term "for injury only"?

wait: IF he goes down after the mentioned day, his salary is NOT guaranteed anymore???

I think he may get 17.5 up front. The rest of the bonus 'guaranteed' on each subsequent years.....

Kinda like that 2mil Terrell Brown lost because he didn't attend camp workout.

He didn't get anything up front. $17.5M of his 2014 salary is guaranteed no matter what. Those extra $20.5M is guaranteed for 2014 and 2015 guaranteed for injury only until the league years 3rd day. I think they need to correct the 2016 to 2015. Cutler didn't get $54M guaranteed. He got $38M. The rest are likely trigger dates, like April 1 if on roster at that date.

Also never believe the whole guaranteed part, 99% of the time it's false, and overblown. The agents say it to make it look like the guy got the most guaranteed money ever. Like Brooks' deal, said like 20M guaranteed, yes he can have that much, if he is on the roster on April 1 of the league year.

Easy come easy go, unless the cap changes kap may go because of the cap. This doesn't worry me. I hope we keep kap because I think he will get much better but there are plenty of QB's in the sea.

If there's one position you don't f**k with, it's the QB position. I don't care how good Harbs is at developing them. We're going to live and die with Kap unless his backup outperforms him. Judging how things went this preseason, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

This. Kap is not going anywhere. The QB position is the one position you don't play games with. If you have a good one, you pay him. Period. We will not do what we usually do and decide how much the player is worth and stick to that number. QB is always an exception.
Kap is turning out to be the best QB in that draft.

I agree with Harbs, he's the best football player in that draft!

Right now, I think Kap and Cam are neck and neck although I think Kap has more upside and potential; once he gets more consistent, Kap will undoubtedly leap frog ahead of him but Cam won't be too far behind.

Dalton is aiight, limited ceiling, good enough to win games in the regular season but can't count on him for the big games, especially goes potato come playoff time.

Ponder and Gabbert are trash, Locker is too injury prone.

Outside or Kap and Cam, this QB class was pretty weak.

I would have paid a penny for that lol. But yeah he kinda sucks
I guess we can assume there won't be a Jay Cutler restaurant in Chicago like Mike Ditka's or Michael Jordan's.
