That's what bad teams do...they give (big) contracts to mediocre ex-Niners (Crabtree, Whitner, Rodgers, Brown, Goldson, etc.)

Well, in this case at least they know how to use him.

Yeah. We got Torrey Smtih...

"We're going to run the ball"

Signs speed WR and rugby RB and neglects OL.

He deserves it, he's a real WR, not like the track star we gave a boat load of money to in Torey smith. How depressing. Heck MC didn't even want to be part of this dumpster of an organization, so you can't blame mgmt. just one of the many that didn't want any part of the Niners an JT.

I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome Torrey is.

Are you serious?

In Torrey Smith's first four seasons before he came to the 49ers, he had 3,591 yards on 213 catches and and 30 TDs, where he was never the number one receiver. In Crabtree's first four seasons, he put up 3,395 yards on 260 catches, and 21 TDs where he was always the number one receiver. Fact is, you could take Crabtree's best four seasons and it won't match Smith's first four. Torrey Smith may be having a down year, but he certainly hasn't forgotten how to be a deep threat. We signed the right receiver. Now if we could only get a coaching staff that would use him effectively and we might have something.

This is also his only highlight of 2015. Heck, he has more drop passes than highlights.

That's sort of the point. He's a mediocre WR but would have been a below mediocre WR here with CK.

Still, I'm willing to bet he comes nowhere near earning that contract like the aforementioned didn't either.

The only one who did was probably Delanie Walker. Gore is OK in split duty, Culliver blew out his knee, Iupati always injured, Aldon is out of the league, etc.

He also had Boldin opposite of him his first few seasons, not to mention Flacco. He had a down year last year, and with the clusterfk that is this year, I dont know what to think. Crabtree and Boldin probably could have had huge seasons elsewhere the past few seasons. Crabtree isn't getting huge money and with the Cap and contracts going up he isn't getting overpaid. Decker, and Cobb got bigger deals and are having worse years.

Didn't the same apply to Crabtree? Kap forced balls to him and he still didn't look that good. So long as Crabtree is the number 2 guy, he will do fine.

The #Raiders and WR Michael Crabtree have agreed to terms on a 4-year extension worth $35M, source said. He gets nearly $19M guaranteed.
They would have been better off getting a younger receiver in the draft

#89 is getting old.
yeah , imagine him getting old with a good younger receiver under him
very deserved
Dude plays well in contract years.
