To be honest a little excited to see carrier get another chance this sunday. He might not have davis' speed, but hes pretty athletic himself and has better hands than vance. And hes not afraid to catch over the middle.

Carrier's first 'big' catch of his career and he flashes a little bit of everything.

2Q 2nd & 10

49ers run a slight variation of the Shallow Cross concept. Instead of a Drag (shallow crossing route) + an In route, they use a drag + a Post. It is designed to get a hi-low read over the middle of the field.
CHI: cover3

Carrier head fakes to the outside. This head fake is to prevent the underneath zone defender (orange) from getting a shove on Carrier as Carrier runs by him. Normally, all underneath zone defenders are asked to slightly shove any WRs that run by them in order to slow them down a bit before the WR enters the safety level. Perhaps the enforcement of the 5 yard illegal contact rule played a part in why the orange defender doesn't shove Carrier. The line of scrimmage is the 30 so a shove could have happened at the 25, it would have been a close call. The key defender for Kap to read is the blue defender. Blue will be the vertically stretched defender.

If blue gains depth, he will block the passing lane to Carrier, and VD is available. If blue comes forward, he will defend VD's crossing route, but open up space for Carrier. Blue is shown coming forward with his attention drawn to VD. The correct throw is to Carrier on the Post route.

i love that 3-cone drill; it says a lot about what's athletically possible in route running and avoiding defenders.
6.6 puts you in rare company with tebow, lol. but, seriously, 6.6 means, among other things, you got some nice joint flexion and range of motion. forget te, lets make him our own julio jones.
Hopefully this guy can carrier the load while VD is out...

Get it?! ......
Haven't seen enough of him to say much, but he looked good last week. Who knows, maybe he pans out and gives us that Delanie Walker dimension we used to have. Anyone know what Carriers 40 time is?

The guy ran a 4.457 supposively in his Pro day... but regardless, Reed was so impressed with him that he compared him to Graham (Saints)...

OFF TOPIC:

Even on this film, you can tell how long it takes Kap to throw the ball.. It's almost like he's waiting for someone to be WIDEEEEEEEE OPEN... Davis was already breaking to the outside and already open, while u can also see how Kap coulda already release the ball toward Carrier before his break..

I was pretty damn impressed by how he held on to the football there after taking a pretty good shot. That stuck out the most to me by far. Plenty of guys who can run routes and get open, not nearly as many with the guts to get rocked and still trying to keep moving forward.

Loving the gif.

That kinda says it all.

Not saying he's the next greatest thing, but I am saying he'll get the chances he needs.

Upgrade over d walker catching and probably worse run blocking. I think we have 1 elite te and carrier is going to be a great pass catching te for little to no money. V Mac can stick to his run blocking and that's it
