Some of the angst here is a bit odd to say the least. 3/4 of the offseason mocks wanted to cut the dude for cap purposes. Sure, he took a pay cut, but we need all the room we can get. We just can't fit everyone in the team.
Anyway, he was a solid pro and a good soldier for us through the horrible years. I wish him the best, but looking back he was not much more than a great late round pick. He played solid football but never amounted to a major pass-rush threat, even with Justin terrorizing OLs ahead of him.

Oh yeah, and that game losing missed tackle in the open corner;
He couldn't out run Chris Johnson? What a disgrace.

This. I swear some of the same people lamenting this trade were demanding that Haralson get cut earlier on in the preseason.
All of this.
We still have more depth than we did last year. Also Cam Johnson will get some valuable snaps when he was probably going to be headed to the PS. Haralson was good but I think the cap space is better.

Manny Lawson was drafted in the first round to be a pass rushing OLB, I for one believe Harlason was a more consistent pass rusher through and will give the Sai
nts a pretty solid starter.

A bit of a surprise, but apparently he was going to get cut, so I guess a 7th is better than nothing.
Also, I'm glad he's not going to a bad team. He may have been consulted.

If all we got was a 7 for him, the Saints got a great deal. He was solid for us when not much else was, I respect the guy.

Dumb and dumber. Haralson was the only vet on the roster who could back up Smith/Brooks if they had to sit a game or two. Lemonier has more athleticism but is 21. Skuta can not tackle my grandmother in a wheelchair in an open field. Even if she is dead. SO, this looks like a bizarre move .... so we can hang on to WIll Tukuafu Jerod Eddie Divens RObinson? I can easily predict that when we are at 53 I can find 3 names on the roster that we could lose with no harm to the team in order to have kept Haralson for depth and rotational needs.
The winner is Parys Haralson. He will get into a situation where he will likely start and rack up some numbers and get a real contract. Personally, I think it's obvious we did this for Haralson, not for SF. SO I am not so bitter that we gave away a quality sub. Which we did. For nothing. It turns out that cutting him was hardly different than what we wound up doing. Maybe there are some salary reasons for this, I don't know.
Stange move. Weird. If we are successful this season, things will be a little more exciting than they needed to be. We have a bounty of riches at OLB, so let's give some away! Let's not build on our roster strengths, lets give some away. To a playoff rival.
I think that there is a misestimation of Skuta playing in here somewhere. I love Lemonhead, but he wont be fully baked until week 9 - 11, maybe later.
I am happy for Haralson, he deserves a shot. I appreciate the FO in taking care of a loyal soldier who suffered through the sh*t years. But, the team didn't benefit from this move that I can see.

21 or not, I think Lemonier would provide better pass rush than Haralson. Maybe a small drop in run D and coverage, but if Lem is on the field, I pretty much want him rushing the QB all the time. Plus, it isn't as if Lem received zero experience at dropping into zones at Auburn.
If we were going to cut Haralson anyway, then no one should gripe about getting an extra 7th instead.

Lemonhead better step up. He's been invisible since the fist preseason game.

That 7th will be used to move up in the 3rd in next years draft

Just give up guys, there is a vocal contingent on here who call every move they wouldnt make stupid and act like we just sent Jerry Rice out the door for a sack of footballs. They dont even conceed its even vaguely possible that it was at best just a difference of opinion with management about player quality. They act like the sky is falling and the "idiot front office" left the cupboard absoloutley bare of any talent behind our starters.

A 7th rounds from the Saints really??? Pretty upset about this because that pick is useless if saint don't have a losing record.
