My 53 man roster guess had the 49ers keeping 4TEs and I keep seeing people complain that they think we are going to keep 3? I don't get it either.

I like Haralson but Lemonier is an upgrade. People shouldn't be looking at What-Ifs like what if Aldon, Brooks, and Lemonier go down!
But that is what happened last year. We only had 2 servicable. OLBs and one was playing with a shoulder injury.
We still have two serviceable OLBs and two question marks. Terrible trade.
Yes, because Haralson coming off an injury that kept him out the whole year isn't a question mark. Dude didn't make it out of training camp last year and before that, wasn't even that productive. SMH

He was going to get cut. So I doubt we will regret it.

Math.
How many OLB can you keep?
In a 3-4 Defense, you can't keep 5?
2 OLBs and a backup for each. Probably the same at ILB with Wilhoite (sp?) and Moody (another player who plays special teams). That's 8 Linebackers on a 53 man roster. Now start building the team and see who you have to let go to keep a 5th outside LB.
some scrub like Dahl or Celek....again you tell me which scrub would get cut...then tell me if they would have a better chance of starting on another team over Haralson.
That's what i am thinking. Cut the f**king #3 tight end and put a backup Dlinement there like we have in the past.
If we need a #3 tight end at some point during the season, pick one up off the streets who can block. Good luck finding a good OLB off the streets....We didn't ahve much luck last year.
Wait...we are complaining about not keeping a 5th OLB in favor of a 3rd TE when we run a 2TE offense? Is it just me?
Did you see the part where I said get an emergency guy, like a Dlinemen to play the #3 tight end, like we have done in the past, and if we need one due to injury we can get one off the streets?

Celek is getting better, and he was good enough last year that he got more snaps than the entire 2012 draft class, and more catches too. :)
Haralson looked good against backups ... Lemonier is already a better player overall, and with PT will be significantly better than Haralson by mid-season.
Stop making sense.

Before he took a paycut I thought Haralson wouldnt make the 53. After he did I still didnt think he was a lock.

That stings, he was kicking a** against the 2nd string all preseason. Fringe starter for most teams. Hope Smith, Brooks, and Lem are healthy all season.

I guess you missed the pre-season games and his career as a niner before the injury.

7th round pick huh? So stupid, and I'd tell that to Baalke in his face.
its not that it was a 7th round pick, more so where we sent him to... I'm sure the f**king Broncos or Raiders would've gave up a 7th round pick.
it seems like it wasn't that the Saints were desperate, more so we were to hurry and make a move. What just so we have one extra roster spot for this week to decide on Travis Johnson or that other unknown Backup Fullback #45..or some other scrubs that were not going to make the team anyway?

Nicely put. I wasn't feeling the rumors of him being shopped this morning. I thought that the depth he provided would be much more valuable than a mid to late round pick. I also thought that they'd keep 5 OLBs (Aldon, Brooks, Skuta, Lem, Parys/CamJohnson). In a choice between Parys and Cam, I'd have taken Parys.
Either Baalke sees much more room to grow from Cam, or they are going with 4 OLBs. If so, this trade is a testament to Lemonier, as well as a need for an "extra" WR or DB imo. The 'extra' WR/DB will no doubt be someone that excels on STs. Based on Baalke's assessment of the LB position, like you said, we should sleep easy. Another case of excellent asset management.
Here's to good health for the OLBs.

Are you hearing yourself? You are suggesting keeping a 3rd string OLB and making a DE your 2nd string TE to do it. Call me crazy, but that doesn't make much sense to me.

I would have been happy if we found room for him, actually.

I don't know, that's why i am asking people on this board who may have more knowlege. And I don't blindly follow the F/O like a homer, sorry.
You call it blindly following the front office like a Homer and I'll call it being smart enough to know what I don't know. If they see enough from Lemonier, Cam and Scuta to think Parys will not be missed, I'll trust them and their track record any day over some chicken littles who saw parys beat a couple back up left tackles in preseason.

To form a trade, you need 2 partners. If another team was offering more than a 7th, then the 49ers would have traded to that other team. 49ers got something for nothing, so I can't complain.
