They made the trade so that the Bucs showed their hand in dealing him away for a low pick. Now they void the trade, in a way make it awkward for the Bucs to place him back in their lockerroom, thereby releasing him, setting up a signing with the 9ers for no loss of draft pick.

Something like that.
