I think we can get him on ps again. Now if he lights up Preseason than we might have to put him on the roaster or lose him. We could also take an injuy along the dline in preseason that might get him on it. All depends will see though, rooting for him and every other niner.

This is extremely difficult to judge. The FO is going to have to weigh his ceiling against the current performance of Dobbs and what complicates things is the injury to Ian Williams - if Williams was healthy I think Okoye would be going to the PS and Dobbs likely cut or taken on waivers.
Now for all the naysayers, Okoye looks like he has a great bull rush - you're all saying someone with 1 year experience in football is never going to make the 53, but that guy is planting and driving OLinemen with years of football experience in Jonathan Martin and Al Netter. You can argue their quality but they are in the NFL and Martin started for a year at Miami.
What we have been lacking with Justin carrying the shoulder injury is inside pressure, now hopefully Cowboy is full healed and we're going to see that again but if you have guys like Tank, Dial and Okoye who can really add that pressure then you cannot afford to cut any of them.
I can see Okoye going onto IR with some mystery injury again as the most likely scenario, but if he flashes in pre-season (and we have to give him reps here for his development) we will not be able to hide him.
TJE has played well and shown up therefore the competition I really see is between Dobbs and Okoye where Dobbs known ability is weighed against Okoye's potential. Now if Justin, RayMAc, Dorsey, Dial, Tank and TJE all come into the season healthy I think Okoye goes on the 53 for his potential and his special teams play, he's much more athletic than Dobbs and I think likely more valuable on special teams. He's also played Rugby so his open field tackling will be excellent.
To be honest I would have him practicing punt and kick returns behind closed doors, he's been a winger in rugby so he'll have caught a lot of kicks (albeit different trajectory). Imagine him receiving kick off and hitting full speed on the return....

I would keep Okoye over Dobbs just on raw tallent. In a season or 2 Okoye will learn the position more and pass up Dobbs on the depth charts
This guy's physical talents are up there with Vernon Davis and Willis.
He picked the perfect team to develop him. Learning from vets Smith, McDonald, and coach Tomsamula.
You can't keep a beast like this kid in the PS for long. Waive him and any team would love to have him especially Seattle.
Plus if he becomes the next Venteron, Castanzo, or Spillman on special teams he will also contribute that way.
Can't wait for preseason. Looking forward to watching him play D-line and special teams.

Imagine him at fullback I could totally see him taking Tukuafus role and contributing on special teams.

I was thinking of that one as well. Since he's getting his technique down and has learned to get low, this could be a winning formation in short yardage and goal line situations. We may have to call him Torpedo Man.

Originally posted by SofaKing:Okoye is a huge project. We'll see how he performs this pre-season, but it's hard to believe a guy with 1 year of football experience is legitimately good enough to be part of a 53-man roster. Obviously he has the physical talent, but the technique of playing 3-4 DE is what matters most.
I think we could safely stash on him our PS for one more season. Tomsula can continue to work his magic, and maybe he'll seriously compete for a spot in 2015. This year's d-line is insanely deep. Hard to see Okoye in the top 6 or 7 among that group.
Pierce holt was almost in the same position. He made the team. Okoye is younger, bigger, stronger and faster. He has the physical talent to dominate at the DE/DT position just like Holt did for a long time. I think Holt was around 28 when he made the team.

Stop being so dramatic. Most of us are simply intrigued with the guy's story and are rooting for him to succeed.
when he gets cut you will see dramatic around here . if you do not think there will be a webzone meltdown when they cut this guy.....

Wait, power of the tingly mayo penis? What's his stance on this? B/c if his penis approves, you KNOW Okoye is on the fast track to the HOF. Period. LOL
