But it certainly has NOTHING to do with me being a newbie and its offensive IMO, as you just typed almost half a page + regarding the "other side of the coin" by stating some of the negatives in Hitner's game. So does that make u a "newbie"? FURTHERMORE, the reference to me being a newbie had NOTHING to do with my previous post, but rather me simply saying "YESSSS" to Hitner perhaps coming back, not some long passionate post!!. FACT!! My passion is for the 49ers and facts, not necessarily Hitner and MORE SO b/c of the foolish inference that somehow wanting Hitner back, or disagreeing with u makes me some type of "Newbie"....
Lastly your previous assessments are well taken and respected. I agree with a lot of what you said, but even if all was taken into account the reality is Hitner would still easily be a TOP 10 Safety. But again much respect... you always have very insightful and researched posts and I enjoy reading your opinions..
Thanks bro.
Absolutely...just wanted to make sure others took you seriously. Love the passion but approach is important around here. And anytime you want to help cover both sides of the coin, I'm with you! Keep posting!
thanks bro

LOL, chopped liver.
IMHO, the FO already has all contract plans addressed which is why they knew they didn't need to extend/restructure Gore's contract.
Whitner is 28 and made $4.93M last year. He, like Brown, will test the FA market most likely...he could end up being our next Goldson (where he comes back at a reduced price after testing the FA market and/or cashes in on a big contract somewhere else, never to be heard from again).

I don't want this guy back. He is a 15 yard penalty waiting to happen every time he makes a tackle. I cringe when I see him coming in late on guys like Lynch or even Lacy as he uses his patented "I am a rolling pin" move with guys on the ground. "Hitner"... Please. Draft a mauler Trent and lets move on.

I hope it works out so we can bring the guy back. I also hope that the penalty review comes into effect...not just for him, but for all the hard hitting our team does.

I'd like Whitner back for 1 season, but that's about it. Wish we can find a way to make that happen... but doubt he would be all that amenable.

He's still only 28, I don't know why I keep thinking he's in his 30's. He's still got a couple of good years left.

I don't want him back, sure he had a good contract year overall, but he was exposed again in the playoffs. I want some youth and length back there. I wouldn't be mad if we traded up a few spots like last year and took Ha Ha Clinton Dix.

For a reduced price I'll take him. But the way he marketed himself last season, I'm assuming he wants elite money. I say NO.

Will they be able to re-sign Donte Whitner? Is T.J. Ward an option to replace him in free agency?
I haven't really seen Ward play, anybody know anything about him?

I'm worried Browns will pay Hitner enough to his liking and that they'll use his hometown pride to sway him.

He's from SF and will probably want more than we can pay. That's all I know.

29 July 24... I think the problem is most would want him back for 1-2 years but I'm sure he wants 3-4 years which turns him 32-33 by the end of he contract. I think most are worried we lock him in for 3-4 and after 1-2 he's lost his speed and we need to move on. Kind of like what happened with Carlos. We didnt have much CB depth and we signed him for more than we should have and longer than we should have. Now after 2 years we trying to get out of the contract. We actually tried last year before Culliver got hurt. We don't have too much of a hit but it's enough.
