Hail to the Redskins!!

Meh. I need to go to a reservation and say, what up redskins and see if they get mad. Have a feeling they just may.

I work in an Indian casino, know hundreds of Indians. I've asked them and none have said they cared
An answer I once got was
Me: Redskins suck, I wouldn't want them representing me?
Them: well at least were good enough to have a football team named after our race! I bet you'll never see a team named after your race. No Los Angeles Wetbacks for you hahaha
Me: son of a b***h hahaha
The Washington "We're all pink inside" Skins

"Schvatzes! They darker than us! Woof!" Mel Brooks, Blazing Saddles.

Washington Indians.

Now that our Native Americans own casinos and they are all now rich (except in Nevada), they really don't concern themselves with such incredible trivial things like the proper naming of mascots.

"Loss Of Redskins Trademark Registration Is Overblown"

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office makes the distinction between a federal registration in a trademark and common law rights quite clear. It says on its FAQ page, "Federal registration is not required to establish rights in a trademark. Common law rights arise from actual use of a mark…" The Washington Redskins organization has made it known that use of the Redskins name and logo will continue. There is little doubt in the public sphere as to a clear association between such marks and the NFL organization.
I think the most fitting name would be the Washington Minority Rules.

America is messed up by always conforming to the few.

I wish I lived locally. I would respond by boycotting any media that refused to call the team by its proper name.

I bet there are more Redskins fans in the area that watch TV and buy newspapers, than there are Native Americans that are offended by the name and still buy Redskins merchandise.
The Washington Welfare Reciptiants
As part Native American I find the term Indian more offensive, cause this ain't India. So let's just call the The Washington Small Pox Blankets and be done with it.
Washington Warriors

don't need to change the logo or colours, still honoring the mighty Indians which I assume was always supposed to be a good thing and not mocking them, and most important - alliteration!

This is what I see that gets me pissed.

As soon as Snyder, or the NFL, or the house, or whoever finally caves to the pressure and force a name change on the Redskins, they also open Pandora's Box.

One story that has stuck with me, and has helped turn me into a more crotchety a-hole, was a Rabbi that happened to be walking through the airport in Seattle around Christmas time. So they had some Christmas trees up for decoration in the airport. Which are apparently so offensive to his Jewish faith, that he made a huge stink.

The solution? Take all of the decorations down. Blank white walls.........much better.

It's the same reason my kids don't have Christmas vacation anymore, it's "mid-winter break." Or Halloween, it's "the Fall Festival."

This whole political correctiveness is absolutely out of control. There are no Native Americans alive today that were rounded up and forced on to reservations. There are no African Americans that were kidnapped in Africa and forced in to slavery.

I'm not a racist, I'm 100% for EEO, and I'm 100% against affirmative action.

And the "political correct" position that groups and our government are forcing on everyone are creating more issues than they think they're resolving.

I am a white male, which in todays day an age, is the worst possible thing you can be. Literally. In my business, bidding on public projects you have to "score" your crews based on race and gender. If you have a crew of white males, you don't get any "points," and you're not going to get any work. If you have a crew of "minorities" or women, you get points that will get you work. How is that correct of fair? How is it fair to the "minorities" or women? It makes them feel like tokens, and creates a worse situation amongst crews than just simply hiring the best people regardless.

It just seems crazy to me that people are willing to dedicate so much time and effort to complicate things. If I'm walking through an airport around Christmas time and see a star of David, or a Menorah on display, I'm not going to be so personally offended by it as a Christian that I need to put a stop to it! Maybe the decorator, or a manager at the airport is Jewish.

I'm half Irish and half German. I really don't have time to be personally offended by Notre Dames mascot, or get in an uproar over how Germans are constantly portrayed on TV. Perhaps I should go on a crusade to permanently ban Hogan's Hero's from any syndication.

To end my diatribe, I guess this is just what makes me more and more conservative the older I get. It's just disturbing.

Taking Christmas trees down in an airport is not the same thing as changing racist team names. The whole Pandora's box argument is a straw man used from everything from equality in marriage to now changing racist names. I can see the future already, we'll be a society of people married to toasters and decorations will be illegal. Give me a friggin' break.
