This is what I see that gets me pissed.
As soon as Snyder, or the NFL, or the house, or whoever finally caves to the pressure and force a name change on the Redskins, they also open Pandora's Box.
One story that has stuck with me, and has helped turn me into a more crotchety a-hole, was a Rabbi that happened to be walking through the airport in Seattle around Christmas time. So they had some Christmas trees up for decoration in the airport. Which are apparently so offensive to his Jewish faith, that he made a huge stink.
The solution? Take all of the decorations down. Blank white walls.........much better.
It's the same reason my kids don't have Christmas vacation anymore, it's "mid-winter break." Or Halloween, it's "the Fall Festival."
This whole political correctiveness is absolutely out of control. There are no Native Americans alive today that were rounded up and forced on to reservations. There are no African Americans that were kidnapped in Africa and forced in to slavery.
I'm not a racist, I'm 100% for EEO, and I'm 100% against affirmative action.
And the "political correct" position that groups and our government are forcing on everyone are creating more issues than they think they're resolving.
I am a white male, which in todays day an age, is the worst possible thing you can be. Literally. In my business, bidding on public projects you have to "score" your crews based on race and gender. If you have a crew of white males, you don't get any "points," and you're not going to get any work. If you have a crew of "minorities" or women, you get points that will get you work. How is that correct of fair? How is it fair to the "minorities" or women? It makes them feel like tokens, and creates a worse situation amongst crews than just simply hiring the best people regardless.
It just seems crazy to me that people are willing to dedicate so much time and effort to complicate things. If I'm walking through an airport around Christmas time and see a star of David, or a Menorah on display, I'm not going to be so personally offended by it as a Christian that I need to put a stop to it! Maybe the decorator, or a manager at the airport is Jewish.
I'm half Irish and half German. I really don't have time to be personally offended by Notre Dames mascot, or get in an uproar over how Germans are constantly portrayed on TV. Perhaps I should go on a crusade to permanently ban Hogan's Hero's from any syndication.
To end my diatribe, I guess this is just what makes me more and more conservative the older I get. It's just disturbing.
