We lost the game...because we made several mistakes...and we are b***hing about the refs?
Refs didn't cost us the game. Ravens made some tremendous plays and we didn't. We dropped tough catches and Ravens made them. We didn't make enough plays and that's why we lost. Stop with crying about the refs.
said this before, there's so much more we can look at ourselves before pointing the fingers at the refs, i agree.
but i still want to state my 2 cents about the refs.
Ok well think about this, did the Ravens not make horrible plays? Did the 49ers not make "tremendous plays"? Actually they made enough to tie the score (2 point conversion), AND take the lead Crabtree 2x). So thats three opportunities where the referee did not call the penalty and erased a potential 17 points of scoring opportunities. (Not even mentioning the Jacoby Jones no call). Now I can point out three CALLS that sling shotted the Ravens into beneficial situations. The no PI on Williams or Graham on the deep ball to Crabtree when he CLEARLY extended his arm (Was beat by a step or two) and grabbed Crabtree. The illegal formation that turned a 1st down to 1st and 15 and a jolt of momentum to the Ravens. And the 3rd and long PI to Boldin that kept a late drive in the 4th going. And the 2 point conversion where Reed was CLEARLY offsides that allowed him to get a free untouched release to the QB and killed a possibility for a CK scramble.
I know it makes some of you feel cool to say "there are no excuses, we lost the game on our own", but on earth we make mistakes and ideal situations are not the way most things play out. Therefore things may have to be done ugly and disorderly. But the only thing that matters is that we get the job done. We accomplished that task. Now according to his (49ersMyLife's) logic, "making plays" is what won the game. The Ravens didnt make a play when Culliver recieved a PI call, They didnt make a play when Crabs was hit helmet to helmet, They did not make a play when Reed ran offsides and was not flagged on a 2 point conversion that would have tied the game, They did not make a play when Miller was sandwiched (held on front and back), They did not make a play when Brooks was called TWICE on that same call (offsides), They did not make a play when they intentionally held at the line to force a safety. They did not make a play when Crabs was held with 1:45 left on the clock.
Those are not instances of "play making", but instances of the ref throwing the flag and putting them in better position than they were in before, or not throwing the flag and benefitting their (Ravens) situation. So again, it was not a matter of the 9ers beating themselves. These are instances where the ref called flags that benefitted them greatly. So in essence you agree that referee's throwing the flag or holding it is what can win or lose a game. Somehow you call it "playmaking".
