Why does Ray lewis get a pass on being super religious but Tebow was a lightning rod

Ray Lewis is black so bashing him for his religious statements is racist.

Plenty of people are bashing him and all of a sudden are re-calling his trial and talking about him having kids from several women.

Right. Plenty are bashing him but how many are doing so on the record in front of media cameras? The bashing is all online but from unnamed sources. You won't see John Clayton at ESPN talking about Lewis getting away with murder or the irony of a guy pretending to be religious while he's got 15 kids from 6 different women.

Calling Ray Lewis a murderer is ridiculous. The two friends Lewis testified against...were not even found guilty few months after Lewis testified against them. They were acquitted because they acted in self-defense. It was an unanimous decision by the jury.

What testimony did he provide against them? He cut a deal in exchange for testimony against his friends but ended up saying jack squat in court. He gave the prosecutors nothing. It was very shady.

When did Lewis or his friends claim self defense? They claimed they had nothing to do with the deaths of the victims.

Not sure when they claimed it but they were acquitted. His friends weren't murderers, and neither was he. The jury acquitted all of them. Move on.

You don't know what you're talking about.

...and before we start accusing media of being racists against white athletes...(it is just as dumb as it sounds)...let's remember ppl ridiculed Lin as well - after media put him over the top by the whole Linsanity bs. Why? ...because he wasn't very good either.
--- Jon Saraceno of USA Today reports that there are "two camps" on Ray Lewis in his Florida hometown.

"No street is named after Ray Lewis in his hometown. City fathers have yet to erect a statue or post a plaque bearing the name of their local football hero, one of the NFL's most popular and decorated players. No 'Welcome to the home of Ray Lewis' sign can be found in a region dominated by citrus groves, cattle farming and phosphate mining," Saraceno wrote. "Back home in central Florida, and nationally, the view is more polarized. Perceived past slights, questions about Lewis' involvement in a double-homicide 13 years ago in Atlanta, and his fathering six children with four women, none of whom he married, seem to haunt Lewis."

These stories have been in the backdrop for a decade...and now that Lewis is in the Super Bowl - they are coming back in the limelight.

Personally, as a Niner fan - I hate it. I don't want him and his team to play with the "Us against the World" mentality. I wished people will stop talking about all this and only focus on Niners vs. Ravens - and the matchups involved.

IMO - people don't give a f**k about those kids or those mothers. People who have not brought up those issues in the last few years and all of a sudden are bringing them up are hypocrites. They can't stand someone's success. It's a loser mentality.

People should talk about Niners vs. Ravens.

TWO FRIENDS WERE ACQUITTED:

Two friends and former co-defendants of NFL linebacker Ray Lewis were acquitted of murder and assault charges Monday in the stabbings of two men after a post-Super Bowl party.

The jury deliberated less than five hours before returning the verdicts in the trial of Joseph Sweeting and Reginald Oakley.

Oakley hugged his attorney, Bruce Harvey, who pumped his fist in exuberance when the verdicts were announced. Sweeting leaned over and put his head on the defense table.

Baker and Lollar were stabbed during a street fight that erupted around 4 a.m. as the nightclubs in the Buckhead district were closing after the Super Bowl in Atlanta.

Evidence showed Baker started the brawl by hitting Oakley in the head with a champagne bottle. Sweeting tried to help Oakley, but never made it because two large men attacked him and dragged him behind a tree, Lewis testified. Lewis said he saw Sweeting regain his footing and start throwing punches and fighting back.

Lewis said Oakley and another member of Lewis' group, Carlos Stafford, were fighting with Baker. He said Oakley punched Baker four or five times in the chest as Stafford was kicking him.

In closing arguments, the district attorney conceded that no witness saw Sweeting or Oakley stab anyone. Instead, Howard insisted there was enough circumstantial evidence to warrant a murder conviction.
I'm sure it's been said before, but it's about skin color.

Or ignorance on part of people who think it's about skin color.

I have never heard Ray Lewis be considered an all time great leader... Now after his "last ride" playoff run, he is now the greatest leader of all time????? Media being a prisoner of the moment!

You gotta be joking right? dude has been pretty well documented ad being a great team leader. that's all they have talked about in regards to Ray over the last 5/6 years. not to mention the relationship he has with many young players that he talks too. Now it's being overblown but this isn't anything new
black?
