It's pretty important considering both starters have been injured recently.
How long has it been since Aldon was stabbed?
I agree.
Cool. I get what you're sayin' now.
Isn't it nice that a back up position is the biggest worry? I love the depth of this team! And it should just get better with all the picks being accumulated...and FAs want to stay and play!

I think it is a huge reach to call Haralson a "very important piece to this defense". Here's my list of "very important" pieces:
1) P. Willy
2) J. Smith
3) A. Smith
4) N. Bowman
5) C. Rogers
Boarderline "very important" pieces are Whitner, Sopoaga, and Goldson.
After that there are important players but ones that could be replaced without a drop off. I would put McDonald, Haralson and Brown in that group.
You forgot Ahmad Brooks. I feel he will breakout this season. I would put Brooks, Whitner and McDonald as 6-8, in that order.

Matt Barrows @mattbarrows The 49ers have signed Clark Haggans to a 1-year deal and placed Parys Haralson on injured reserve.
Sucks.

Well I wish him a speedy recovery. At least we quickly filled the position with a capable veteran that hopefully doesnt miss too much time due to league discipline

ok. now do we need another back up linebacker? i was wrong in thinking clark would just be a stop gap and band aid. with parys on the shelf do we need another guy?

Cam Johnson has a better chance of being signed to the 53 over any of those three.

If Cam is healthy I would bring him up and sign somebody else to the PS. We have under 1 mill right now to sign players and the season hasn't even started.

Haralson was over his head as a starter. He won't be missed.
