I guess he won't play in Denver due to his sickle cell. Other than that, great value pick!

I think he had an injury his senior season

He has sickle cell.

I know nothing about that disease, will it affect his play?

ryan clark from the steelers has it and the only issue is he doesnt play when they go to den because of the altitude

He won't be able to play at all in Denver or anywhere with thin air. Ryan Clark has the same disease and had to sit out the Denver game. The last time Ryan Clark played in Denver, he had his spleen and gall bladder removed and lost 30 lbs due to the thin air.

Shouldn't affect it much. It can cause some things like fatigue, lower oxygen absorption, increased heart-rate etc. So perhaps it could hinder his stamina, but shouldn't be a problem.

The other small risk is some kind of organ failure and that he probably won't live to 50.

StMina will beower but shouldn't affect his play at Ll considering he's a de/olb

Jed said he's an OLB.

He said in his conference call that he's projecting to OLB and has discussed that with the Niners. He played OLB for 2 years in college.

Great last pick. Johnson was a 4th round value in my opinion. Brings terrific depth and competition for Haralson to backup Brooks and Aldon.

Again, I'm glad you think so OTC... but I wonder...

Can he play OLB in a 3-4 defense at 268 lbs.? Seems a lot more like a 4-3 DE...

He put on that weight to play the 4-3 when Virginia moved from the 3-4. He has experience in both, which is something we really like because we want a guy who can play on 3rd down as well.

We expect Aldon to play between 260-265. I think like Alex Boone and other players, Johnson will get into our fitness program and drop a little weight to get stronger and faster. Let's say he drops 5 pounds, but adds strength and speed. You've then got a 6-3 263 pound linebacker/nickel end tweener.
Intrestinf we have 5 olb no way they all make it bye

I would have no qualms trading Haralson if Fleming and Johnson impress, but I'm doubtful they'll do enough to supplant him, even though they're solid prospects.
