I have nothing invested in Jenkins, he could be the next R. Woods for all I know. Maybe he is a bust, but Im not giving judgement yet, just I didnt judge A Davis
Jenkins turning down an invite to train with the GOAT raised a big red flag for me. It wasn't just about running the Hill it was all about an opportunity to train with the best WR ever and Jenkins punked out.

You just don't do that.

Not impressed. Half of those were wide open blown coverages. The rest were aginst the likes of Northwestern & Indiana. Furthermore he's not torching those guys, just seems a couple steps faster than the slow Big10

whatever.

So far AJ is a Bust.

But I will say this, you go from a really productive player in college, accumilating about 50% of pass production of your entire teams offense (with suspect QB play) its probably been the first time in this dudes life hes been a bench warmer with guys like Moss ahead of him.

Still got hopes for him. He's just got to learn how to be a professional football player first. I think his time will come.

Jenkins as far as i know turned down an invite to train with the GOAT then showed up to camp outta shape and has spent a year learning and playing with HOF WR Randy Moss and still can't produce.

If Jenkins gets cut he will officially become one of the biggest 49ers WR draft busts in team history.

The fact that Hall right off the street was thrown to ahead of Jenkins is a joke.

Doug Martin David Wilson Stephen Hill Coby Fleener & Rueben Randle were all on the board and they draft AJ Jenkins WTF??????????

Yep. Could have had Doug Martin and Reuben Randle instead of Jenkins and James. WOW.

im happy with james hes perfect for our offense, randle and hill were 2 wrs i wouldve been happy with at 30

Doug Martin >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> James though. And Randle >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jenkins. Lets face it. Niners screwed up last year in the draft.

I have said for a while now that if the plan was to take RB in the second, and WR in the first, we should have taken RB in the first and WR in the second, i know hind sight is 20/20 but i did want us to draft WR in the second all along. I personaly as really high on Jefferey but there was a ton of WR's all on par with each other in the second. There as no need to take a WR in the first. Even if Jenkins doesnt end up a bust, he wasnt good enough to seperate himself from th rest of the wr's in the second round to justify the pick in the first.

Martin, Wolfe, J. Jenkins, Fleener all could have been taken in the first and would have had an impact.

Then we could have snagged Randle in the second who was there at our pick, or moved up a few spots and snagged another WR we liked in the second.

I know its all hindsight, and i like what LMJ has done stepping in for hunter, but i just dont see a huge differance in Hunter and LMJ, and with gore still carrying the load, i dont see where both get enough carries to justify having two similar RB's on the roster like that. Im sure harbaugh and co ill find a way to get use out of both of them next season, but i would have been much happier with one of the guys listed in the first, and a wr in the second.

Didn't know about that. Quite shocking really if that's true.

If he's a bust its not the end of the world, LaMike looks good and the 2011 draft has made up for it.
I'd say based on the article, he's in the doghouse. Deep. The only slack he has is that he was a first round pick. He probably has a season to turn it around. Still won't just label him a bust. We'll see if he has the heart and the mental toughness to respond.

That is BS. He was a big disappointment in camp and could never get on the field. It had nothing to do with not being drafted for this year. It had everything to do with the fact that he just wasnt good enough to play. First round picks that arent QBs dont just sit out every game

Come on man. We dont know what happens in practice, whats going on we dont see. Didnt we all think Jacobs would do something this year?

This is a new era, Harbs and Ballke. I dont think Jenkins is a bust, he was drafted for next year. We go to the dance this year and need to reload, I think he is part of that. Its not a one year deal anymore for us, its about the future.

"We had a specific play that we felt Chad would be very good at," Harbaugh said. "And that play got called in the game."

Harbaugh added: "A.J. was ahead of Chad on the depth chart had something happened to Michael (Crabtree) or Randy (Moss)."

He's only been thrown to one time. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

James is going to be an excellent situational back and KR but don't project him out to be an every down feature back he's too small in stature and goes down too easy. Martin is already a stud feature back and Wilson is right there as well. Would rather have had Martin or Wilson with our 1st pick. Then either traded up to get Stephen Hill in the 2nd or waited for Randle who was still on the board with our 2nd.

1st: Martin/Wilson
2nd: Hill/Randle

While hindsight is always 20/20 a ton of 49ers fans and analyst's were calling for this 49ers draft.

Certainly would have been a better draft than Jenkins/James.

If he knew the playbook and could get open they would be throwing the ball to him.

I think LMJ was always intended to take over KR/PR duties, while adding big play potential as a change of pace back. I think he will be nasty, in combination wit a healthy Hunter, once Gore moves on in a year or two. Plus, we should be able to extend them cheap and early, as they will not be the main guys at the time.

I think HarBaalke were straight up when they said Jenkins needed time to add size/strength. Obviously, it is taking longer than they hoped. Now, that is either because AJJ is a slacker in the weightroom, or it is just hard to add pounds to skinny dudes with skinny young man metabolism. I REALLY hope it is the 2nd option, and that he hooks up some of Sherman's "Adderal" and leaky piss cups in the offseason.

My only response to this is then why didn't you call a play for AJ that you thought would work? I will admit that that play almost did work. To bad hall dropped that ball. Don't care if it was tipped. He was making a body catch. I think Atlanta sniffed that play out though.

He gets open like crazy. We saw it in the preseason, and on his 6-10 plays late in the year. He even gets open deep (something no one else is doing). I think he has big eyes out there, and we are too far into it for him to learn on the job right now. I think he will be a big part of the offense next year. With Crab emerging, we could a combo like the Ravens [Crab being the Physical, hands-catching YAC guy (Boldin), and AJJ being the deep threat (Smith)], but we also have a dangerous TE and an effective slot guy or two.
