Down the road perhaps.. There are a couple female HCs at the high school level, it'll still be a while before they hit the college ranks, even longer for NFL. Maybe as quickly as in the next decade for some sort of assistant job...any sooner would surprise me.
One of our star players had some pretty controversial words about a female head high school coach a few years back. Points if you can remember who

The NFL culture is way too traditional to allow that in the next 10-15 years. It's nice to see some female faces in the front office though - the Raiders CEO for example is female.
But we are still discussing a rule for a mandatory interview with a minority candidate - so there's still progress to be made in that realm before we address the gender gap.

no GM is willing to stick his neck out and try it. in the NFL everyone, including GM's and coaches, are scared to deviate from the norm for fear of getting fired. a GM who hires a female coach is basically putting his job on the line, because if it doesnt work out, he looks like a moron and loses his job.
I dont mean to sound sexist, but football is a sport for tough men, and they need to be led and motivated. I just dont see a woman being able to gain the respect of a team of football players to lead them. plus theres that whole factor of all the players walking around naked in the locker room, cussing, the potential for violence, etc. its just not an atmosphere for a woman.
I think a woman could coach an NBA team, but not in the NFL.

I dont think GMs will do it because of the attention it brings either. But I would never say never.
