1. Does anyone else realize that if Sandy Eggo had just had faith in Drew Brees, they coulda drafted Larry Fitzgerald 1st overall in 2004 and had Brees slinging it all over the field to Fitz, V. Jackson, Gates, and Malcom Floyd= multiple super bowls. They blew it.
2. The 2010 had the most ultimate win-win and nothing to lose trade NOT go down at the 2010 draft. By this I mean that obviously St. Louis wanted Sam Bradford since they chose him first overall. They knew even if Detroit picked 1st, they clearly wouldn't have taken him (just drafted Matthew Stafford 1st overall the prior year), and if Tampa were choosing first, they wouldn't take him either because they had just taken Josh Freeman in the first round the prior year and were building their franchise around him. Considering it would have even been beneficial to STL to just swap the 1st pick for the 3rd pick (guaranteed to get your guy while also having to pay him way less), ANY compensation on top of that from Tampa would have been icing on the cake. How did Tampa not realize this? They could have gotten away with giving up way less ammo than it'd normally take to move up to #1 because they would have the leverage of knowing STL would WANT to pick 3rd and not 1st. And then Tampa gets NDAMUKONG SUH over Gerald McCoy. Just a wee bit of a difference between those 2 guys lol. Then the Rams still get their guy AND get to pay him as the 3rd overall pick and not the 1st overall pick. WIN-WIN. Think those 2 GM's have any idea how hard they blew it? The ONLY flaw in this scenario is that maybe STL would have been worried that a team like Washington or Seattle would have then tried to trade up to #2 to get Bradford, and Detroit would likely listen to offers with Suh now off the board. But EVEN if STL was worried about that, AT LEAST threaten to take Suh (it was pretty much a coin flip for them at the time). Hell, you could actually go ahead and TAKE Suh and then tell Detroit to take Bradford if they want to have a chance of getting their boy Ndamukong (a la '04 Manning/Rivers trade). Then STL gets their guy (Bradford) PLUS additional compensation from Detroit, while Detroit gets their guy (Suh) while giving up compensation under market value. WIN-WIN. Worst case scenario for STL is Detroit doesn't like being held hostage, Bradford goes to some other team, and they are "stuck" with having Ndamukong Suh, who btw once again, they essentially liked just as much anyways. I want to send this in a letter to all 3 of their GM's. Ridiculous.
