Just wondering, do any of you remember from the 2008 season, that even though the Steelers won the Super Bowl, didn't they have an absolutely dreadful o-line? They were constantly ripped apart by the media, experts, analysts, etc. and won it all DESPITE that, correct?
Just FYI, their starting o-line was:
LT- Max Starks
LG- Chris Kemoeatu
C- Justin Hartwig
RG- Darnell Stapleton
RT- Willie Colon

Packers had the 4th worst o-line in the league in 2010, as well.

Yes, thank you...I was just arguing with some joker in NT claiming that there has never been a good team without a good o-line and was constantly refusing to admit Pitt had a horrendous one...even though '08 Cards, recent Packers, etc. have all had tons of success with atrocious lines.

They all had great quarterbacks.

Yep, but still awful o-lines.

A great quarterback with an awful o-line is better than a great o-line and an awful quarterback.

But if you listen to the people making Alexcuses, the O-Line is to blame for our QB failures. The QB has nothing to do with it. It's the O-Line. Don't you know that guys like Warner, Roethlisburger and Rodgers would suck if they had bad O-Line's? Oh wait...

They had bad O-Lines but also had good WRs to bail them out whenever they were pressured.
Warner: Boldin & Fitz
Big Ben: Hines & Holmes
Rodgers: Driver & Jennings
(I just wanna make it clear that my post has nothing to do with Alex Smith lol. Just pointing out that the QBs mentioned weren't great by themselves.)

As the joker in question, I would like to repeat that both the Steelers running backs were injured early in the season, after Parker's 138 yd 3 touchdown showing in the first game. Big Ben held the ball too long and was "constantly ripped apart by the media, experts, analysts, etc. and won it all DESPITE that, correct?"
So, while I believe you don't win a Super Bowl with a "bad" offensive line, you can win one with a functional line. Do you need pro bowlers? No. You need guys playing together who believe in themselves.
While I believe your point was that the Pitt 2008 line was worse than the 9ers 2010 line, I pointed out that various sources rated the Pitt line from 10th to 24th for 2008. The 9ers 2010 line was 31st. As they are different years the stats are meaningless but you do like stats...but do not respond unless they are in your favor.
We differ in our definition of a good line. You want to see a list of pro bowlers, I want to see a group of guys playing well together.

AAAAAAAAAnd yet you STILL refuse to name one starting offensive lineman from EITHER team from Super Bowl 43 that you consider to be a good player. Also, Willie Parker still played in 11 games yet his yards per carry was nearly a full yard lower than their first Super Bowl. And I'm not talking about a LIST of pro bowlers, but if "you can't have a good team without a good o-line", then the TEN starting offensive linemen from that game surely would combine to make a SINGLE pro bowl in their careers, no? The Steelers o-line was not "functional". They were NOT a group of guys playing well together. You're trying to sugarcoat it but there's no way around it- they were BAD. Arguably the worst in the league and that's what all the analysts and experts were saying all year long. The 2009 Packers were a real solid team. They went 11-5 and got robbed out of winning at least one playoff game. Lemme guess- they had a good o-line too?

Talk in circles, refuse to address issues, then change the subject...then roll and laugh. How old are you? You have sad that the line was the "worst in history." I questioned that notion and gave you stats to demonstrate you were wrong. From you? Roll and laugh.
You refuse to google line stats, as I have done, that indicate the Steelers OLine was listed from 10th to 24th in 2008 depending on who was analyzing and what criteria they used. I'm not a big stat guy but they are fun and since you place such importance in them I figured you would have some at your fingertips to show that I was wrong. But you just roll and laugh.
Do you really believe that a line that was not functional won the super bowl? OK, we disagree and it is apparent that you are in this to win an argument, not be informative or correct. Now you have decided to be rude so we can call it a day.

I'm just waiting for you to name a good player from that line...and when did I say they were the worst o-line EVER? I said they were quite possibly the worst in the league for that year. But again, name ONE good player...someone who's even close to as good as, say, a Staley or a Heitmann....I'm waiting....and I'll probably keep waiting...
