His cap figure is in the $5.4 mil range, which is nothing to get upset about. I say pull the trigger if you can. What can we lose at the moment?
s**t, send Chilo and a 4th, I dont care. Get it done.. no ones better than him in the open market anyway.
______
Because he is a zone, Tampa 2 style corner. We need bump and run guys.
He would be the worst CB on our roster in our aggressive, physical defensive strategy.
That's why.
last time i checked the patriots dont play a 4-3 tampa 2 defense

Nate Clements was a bump and run guy, that worked out GREAT.
______
In our system, Clements is 100x better than Asante Samuel.
Listen, just because you recognize the name doesn't mean he will work out in every defensive system. Cornerbacks are not interchangeable. You love the name, not the player.
i'm not sure I even know what "our system" is going to be. Fangio has said he'll base it around the players we have. If we had Samuel, it seems to me that Fangio, if he's as smart and good as his reputaiton says he is, wouldn't force him to be a bump and run CB. My two cents.

agree, if you get a CB like him you switch some schemes to get the best out of him. It's pretty much what the eagles will do with Nnamdi.

I'd rather pay less get a younger cb who can press and actually play man! For about as much as it's going to take to get samuel we can find someone else!

Samuel isn't perfect, but he does make some big plays, and while I wouldn't want to swing a deal out of desperation, I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Niners jersey.

Well now that CB Carr is re-signing with the Ravens.
Man the list is just getting Smaller and Smaller by the day. Spencer and Brown i guess will be it for this year....
Still got hope tho, but its running a very thin line that we'd get any stud FA Cb's

Heard on ESPN radio Samuel doesn't even want to be traded. He wants to win and I don't think he'd be stoked coming to the 49ers....
I just feel like this has bad news written all over it. Sure, I'd be happy (since there are no other CBs at all basically), but I feel like he wouldn't play 100%.
Who knows, though.

The 49ers may have to look to Philly to acquire Asante Samuel in a trade. It's a thought.

So we will go from an ok DB, who could tackle like a beast... To an ok db, who can't stay focused.. who shys away from contact.
