After checking with sources, ESPN.com's Ashley Fox believes the Eagles will hold onto CB Asante Samuel.
Fox was formerly with the Phiiladelphia Inquirer, so she has plenty of connections with the Eagles. As well as he played through 10 weeks last season, Samuel's $5.4 salary is plenty reasonable. By all accounts, the Eagles are gearing up for a Super Bowl run in which three top corners will be as much a necessity as a luxury.

NFL Network's Mike Lombardi reports that the Eagles are now willing to entertain trade offers for Asante Samuel.
This contradicts a report from ESPN's Ashley Fox, who after checking with sources predicted Samuel would return to Philadelphia. Samuel has large base salaries ($5.9 million in 2011) forthcoming, so he won't be easy to trade. He also isn't a schematic fit for zone defenses or teams that want their corners to play press-man. If the Eagles are going to make a Super Bowl run, they ought to strongly consider keeping Samuel this season, then cutting him when his salary jumps to $8.4 million in 2012. When healthy, he's still a top-ten cornerback in terms of ball skills and off-man coverage. Jul 30, 1:27 AM

I would take any of them....I would think Samuals contract would be cheaper. But would have to get him at the right price.

Fact is 49ers are rebuilding.
Giving up a 2nd round pick for a 30 year old CB would be unwise.

I am guessing the OP is once again claiming it's his "inside source" at team HQ...IIRC he has been right once before however he has also been very very wrong and more than once....
I did find this :

Now that the Eagles came out of nowhere to swoop free agent CB Nnamdi Asomugha a day after trading for Arizona CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, there is speculation that the 49ers will trade for Eagles CB Asante Samuel. Samuel, 30, is on the books for $5.9 for the Eagles and has 42 career interceptions. 49ers RapidReports
