Again, teams don't respect their own commitments.
And apparently Palmer IS leaving the sport.

Why did Mike Brown, the guy who respects contracts, traded Chad today?
...and obviously, Mike Brown did the right thing 2 years ago when he didn't trade Chad for 1st rounder + 3rd rounder (that could have become a 1st rounder). Really showed him who is the boss by not rewarding Chad his wish to be traded.

Mike Brown is too stubborn for his own good. He is the type of guy that is willing to spend $10 million in court fees to win a $1 million lawsuit. I don't blame Carson Palmer for bailing on the team one bit.

Actually, teams do respect their commitments. That's what contracts are for.
I saw in one of your prior posts you making a comparison to Clements, an analogy. It'san apples to oranges analogy you atre making there. CP still has some game, Nate, not so much. Nate is not performing up to standard. I get the feeling you would have no problem not seeing the best players playing ball....as long as the big bad evil team was nice to them.
The lifespan of a player is short, and teams... if they are worth a s**t....are by necessity of that...going to always be looking to s**t can someone for someone else. That's the nature of the beast, out with the old and in with the new. The alternative is to have a team of protected individuals who are not going to compete.
Truth of the matter is, it's a contract, the team was fulfilling it's obligations to the contract, a contract made in good faith by both parties. CP is the one not being honorable here. He doesn't have to play, he has that right, but it's not a very honorable thing to do, because he made a deal that their really is no reason he can't be fulfilling other than he just doesn't feel like it.
Brown has as much a right to call CP out on his weaselness as CP has to not play football anymore. A contract is contract, end of story. CP doesn't want to play for them anymore, and prefers to break his word over it. Fine..don't play then....be a whiny p***y and take your bat and ball home and not play anymore....but don't expect the party on the broken end of the contract to ignore that fundamental f**kedupness of pussing out on your contract obligations. Be a f**king man and not a mouse, honor your obligations....even if you don't "feel" like it anymore.

Mike Brown needs to retire.
The guy is a joke. He's been running this ship now his way for the past 15+ years! What does he have to show for it? Absolutely nothing. Bengals fan hate him, players hate him, and now the media is starting to turn on him. This clown needs to go.

Never...if he comes back, Cincy owns him.

No. If/when he decides to return to football, the Bengals still have rights to him. He'd be in exactly the same situation he's in now. My suspicion is that Cincy is probably very quietly shopping him. No doubt Palmer's camp in checking to see who's interested as well.
It's to the benefit of both parties to resolve this.

I completely agree with the emphasized above and it makes good business sense. However, I have to side with Brown on this one - Palmer made a signed commitment to the Bengals and by not playing through his contract, in this situation, Palmer is not living up to his commitment. Palmer being forced to retire is fair as a result of not living up to his commitment.
