Al Harris spent most of his 13-year career playing for the Green Bay Packers, but he was released last November after spending the beginning of the season on the physically unable to perform list. While they went on to win Super Bowl XLV without him, the Packers announced their plans to still give Harris a Super Bowl ring to show their appreciation for everything he did over the last eight years.
Kareem Copeland of the Green Bay Post Gazette reported on Thursday how Packers president Mark Murphy announced the team’s plans to acknowledge Harris by including him in the ring ceremony–which is schedule for mid June, but could still change due to the lockout. Harris suffered a torn ACL in the middle of the 2009 season and even missed the first half of this past season because of the injury. In what ended up being one of the toughest decisions to make as an organization, the Packers chose to release Harris in November after the emergence of Sam Shields–which led to Harris being picked up by the Miami Dolphins. Unfortunately, Harris only played in three games with the Dolphins before being placed on injured reserve in December.

I don't know about Al Harris, but I'd rather have a Super Bowl ring that I helped earn.

So where are all the other rings for the other players who were either cut or put on the PUP list?

Didn't the Colts give Edgerrin James a superbowl ring? I think they did.

yeah....thats weak. you shouldnt be able to give a ring to someone because of what they did in the past. you had to have contributed something to the team that regular season/playoffs.

You can contribute without actually playing. I support this move.
